Looks like times are changing in the NFL. Interesting.

The NFL is reportedly considering abolishing the extra point after touchdowns as part of its scoring system.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told the NFL Network on Monday that the league's Competition Committee is looking at proposals that would end extra point kicks after touchdowns in favor of a revised scoring system.

"The extra point is almost automatic," Goodell told the network. "I believe we had five missed extra points this year out of 1,200 some odd (attempts). So it's a very small fraction of the play, and you want to add excitement with every play."

"There's one proposal in particular that I've heard about," Goodell added. "It's automatic that you get seven points when you score a touchdown, but you could potentially go for an eighth point, either by running or passing the ball, so if you fail, you go back to six."

I wouldn't have a problem with what Goodell is proposing. Since >99% of PAT's are made anyway, might as well just make the TD worth 7, with the team essentially having to gamble a point to make it an 8-point TD.

Yeah, nothing wrong here honestly with this. I mean it's not like if they try to get 8 they keep 7 if they miss, it's pretty much just saying that got the PAT already, but can try to get to 8 or just keep the 7.

The NFL has bigger problems than this. It sounds like very typical Roger Goodell to focus on something like this instead of some of the issues they need to address with instant replay. Such as, how can a guy like Navarro Bowman clearly recover a fumble on a play like the one where he shredded his knee in the NFC Championship game and it not be reviewable? Why in the hell is pass interference not reviewable? Pass interference calls can affect the game more than just about any play. It seems to me that getting those right is pretty important, and much more important than whether or not an extra point is too easy or not entertaining enough.
