Nice guys do finish first

Ragan also stated in his post race interview what many already knew - he wasn't ready when Roush brought him into cup.

Either way, congratulations to him on the win and for running up front all night with one of the best cars in the race.

Great Job :beerbang:

Congrats to Ragan. But my feelings remain the same Jack needs to find a new driver in 2012.

Congrats to Ragan and Rousch they proved you can make a winning driver without using the tried and true ABC method.....it just takes 5-6 years!

Except that this was Daytona. The ABC method is still the best way to go... it just takes time.

Ragan has raced ARCA, Trucks, Busch and Cup.

He has only failed to win a race in the truck series.

They have this thang called a checkered flag, and the job is to get to it first every week. A driver can be a nice fellow, sanctified, a non farter, etc, but if he can't be counted on more than once a leap year, in first class equipment, well then that mean's he ain't no count at driving.

They have these thangs called points too, and ifs a driver always gits the least amongst his teammates routinely, well then that mean's he don't do as good they do either (but, I admit saying he's no count was uncalled for, just not worthy of Rousch seat imo ).

Jack probably has computer graphs to, that shows a trend, that's not good.

Ain't the internet great. Seriously a good guy I don't wish him any misfortune, and maybe he is on the verge of turning the racing world upside down. But that's a very strong operation, and Jack's got more patience than I ever expected.

I think Jack is more stubborn than patient. He was going to prove the critics wrong no matter how long it took.

I'm sure it would be easy to check but if I remember correctly David Ragan won Roush's "Racer X" deal in 2005, Roush ran him in a couple Busch races that year and a partial ARCA season. In 2006 he ran most of the truck races a couple Busch races and a couple Cup races. In 2007 Roush put him in the #6 Cup car. Prior to 2005 Ragan was racing Legend cars.
Thats a pretty quick move to Cup in my opinion.

Yes it is and Ragan admitted Saturday night that he wasn't ready.

I was merely correcting some misinformation :)

I'm not sure what Rousch was thinking other than maybe trying to cash in on the whole young driver movement.

In comparison, Biffle never even attempted a cup race until he was 32, Edwards was 25, Kenseth (for Rousch) was 28.

Ragan, on the other hand, was 20.
