The No. 28 made its return to NASCAR Sprint Cup racing on Monday at Daytona.

I’ll admit it was great to see the number back on the track, but it wasn’t great to see the car without a sponsor. In fact, currently the Yates Hauler is done up in white with the Yates Racing logo and the car is running sponsoryates.com on the quarter panels.

Travis Kvapil also made his return to the Cup Series today and one of his test cars (pictured) is running the red numbers just like when the car had Texaco/Havoline as a sponsor.

The No. 28 has posted 76 victories in Cup competition with the last coming with Ricky Rudd in 2002 (Infineon) when he drove for Robert Yates. Yates has posted 26 overall victories with the No. 28 with drivers Rudd, Ernie Irvan, Dale Jarrett and Davey Allison.

Its sad to see what is happening at Yates...... Really nice guy, hope that the team can get it turned around, get some sponsorship, and get back to being competive again......

Maybe he can hold on till Robbie is ready. He's doing great in the Legends cars, though I think he's only 15. It would be great to see another Allison behind the wheel of any car, but especially those colors.

Long time Allison fan here....in fact, I havent had a true favorite driver since I ran out of Allisons and #12's owned by Bobby. To me, BAM will always stand for Bobby Allison Motorsports. Still got the t-shirt too.

First off, it just doesn't look right on the side of that car of tomorrow. Yates should run the number on the Busch car and hire a capable driver to put the car at the front. They, RYR, should've known sponsorship with Kvapil would be tough, he's already ran in the series once in a Penske car with minimal results. I just hate it the way things are going, maybe they should've just hung the number up after Davey's death things haven't been the same since...
