DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - NASCAR officials planned to take the night to study the No. 5 Chevrolet of Casey Mears after it failed post-race inspection Saturday night.
After the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway, NASCAR vice president Jim Hunter said the car was found to be too low in the rear. It was possible the car was damaged during the race, Hunter said.
He said NASCAR would provide a more definitive answer on Sunday.
