NASCAR makes the dumbest decisions at the most crucial point in the year.

Practice gets rained out yesterday.

The trucks got to qualify this morning. The cup guys are practicing.

This makes no sense. Or NASCAR is just trying to hand this championship to Carl Edwards.

Why not cancel the trucks qualifying and let the sprint cup guys practice then qualify?

How is it that the trucks can qualify but not the sprint cup guys?

NASCAR, YOU HAVE YOUR HEAD STRAIGHT UP THE 99'S TAILPIPE!!!!!

I'm sure the truck drivers think they have just as much right to qualify as the Cup guys do. All the Chasers are starting in the top 12 so they can't complain.

Yeah, I don't understand that either. There is a window of opportunity to qualify the CUP cars today. Why not work it in to the day's activities?

Because..."Persistent rain and clouds forced NASCAR officials to cancel Cup qualifying Saturday morning at Martinsville Speedway in favor of getting in two practices before the scheduled Truck Series Kroger 200.

After more than a half-inch of rain pelted the area overnight, crews were busy Saturday morning attempting to dry the track. But when the scheduled 8:30 a.m. ET practice time came, the track was still too wet, forcing NASCAR officials to revise their plans.

Now officials are hoping the track will be ready between 9:15 and 9:30 a.m. ET for a short Cup practice that will end at 10 a.m. Truck qualifying will follow at 10:40 a.m., with a final practice for the Cup cars running from noon until 1:25 p.m. All of this is weather permitting.

That means Cup qualifying has been canceled and the starting lineup for Sunday's Tums Fast Relief 500 will be set per the NASCAR rule book, with Carl Edwards leading the field to the green flag.

Saturday's forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of rain in the morning, with gradually clearing skies. The high will only get to 50 and the winds will pick up once the cold front clears the area."

GREAT! Then why not let the cup guys qualify!!!! They have time. But they choose not to!!!!

And as far as you being cool with Carl getting the best pit stall because somebody decided the truck series and sprint cup series are different? That's just plain inconsistent.

You can be cool with it. Im not. Why treat the truck series differently?

Who are you quoting here?

Heaven forbid we push the truck series back one hour. That would be like moving mountains Im sure. For the lazy people that run nascar.

Carl got a speeding down pit road penalty in Dover, if nascar really wanted him to win the chase then that would have never been thrown cause he would have easily won that race.

That system is all auto. Mike Helton and Brian aren't in control of that.

You are out of touch dude.

NASCAR can't do something deliberate, like making stupid calls that other people can see when speeding and other things are involved on the track. This was a subjective call. It's nothing like speeding dude. get it out of you head.

NASCAR GAVE CARL THE P1 BOX AND STARTING SPOT. NOT TO MENTION, CARL SUCKS QUALIFYING HERE.

I think you just want to be dumb. Why not have qualifying? The trucks did. And the CUP guys could have too!!!!

Might rain? Bull$hit!

I'm just messing with you about nascar and all their black helicopters flying overhead. ;)

Qualifying is part of racing. And to take it away at a track where track-position is so damn important, it just isn't right.

Yes, that's the whole reason. Not only for the re-scheduling of the days events, but for the whole thing, to include the storm. Mother Nature is a big Carl Edwards fan, and is doing everything she can to help Carl win the championship. Now if only she could do something about those danm black helicopters.

Who said a damn thing about rescheduling? What has to be rescheduled? What friggin Storm?

They could have let the cup guys qualify as scheduled. The cup cars were on the track at noon today.

I state again, the trucks qualified, and the cars could have as well. No reason to reschedule at all.

I like the fact that Keselowski will have a chance to take out the 2 front runners with one shot. ;)

Ummm, in case you didn't notice, there was a nor'easter that came up the east coast, it completely washed but yesterday's events. No practice, nothing.

Exactly!!!! So why not qualify today? The trucks qualified and they decided to have the cup guys practice? YOU DON'T FIND THAT STUPID ONE LITTLE BIT?

I HOPE HE DOES!!! I HOPE ALL 5 TOP SEEDED GUYS WASH EACHOTHER OUT AND THEY ALL END UP WHERE THEY BELONG! IN THE BACK WITH ALL THE OTHER SLOW CARS!

If NASCAR was in the process of rigging races and championships, you'd think Junyer would win a race once in a while.

Ask yourself this:

If Jr was in the points lead, and qualifying could have been run, but nascar decided to have practice, would people say they did it on purpose?

What really matters to you?

That they get to practice?

Or

They get to qualify?

No. NASCAR's always had the same precedent and this isn't the first time.

CARLS GONNA GET HURT TRYING TO GET OUTTA THE WAY!!!

I actually think Carl would be better off dropping to the apron after the first lap. He sucks at Martinsville, and there wasn't much practice. The worst thing that could happen for Carl is there is a long run to start the race and he pops his tire trying to keep the lead.

The way things stand, as much practice as they can get todaywill be more important.

Why not qualify Sunday morning?

So make it an impound race. You race the set-up you qualify on. Seems pretty simple to me...

...but then, I am a simple man...

They probably couldn't schedule qualifying due to the 48 not making it out of tech in time. Something about the rear end of the car.

Practice today for the Cup cars was much more important than letting them qualify. In a way it works out better for everyone all the Chase racers will be up front and have decent pit selections, it's 500 laps on a half mile track the good cars will be lapping the not so good cars in a few laps anyway.

I would much rather see cars hooked up and handling good in tomorrows race than watch qualifying anyway.

No, that can't be it. It's all about helping Carl Edwards win the championship. Have you not been paying attention?

Then why have qualifying at all?

Seriously. Why do it? I like it, I like watching it. The fastest cars get to start up front. Why not?

Because they are in the chase you guys think they should have the best pit stalls? I don't like that at all. To me, you need to prove you should have that pit stall at said track!

When the truck race got done, the sky was all blue. They could have done it then. Why not? Either do it or don't. Don't tell me it's important, and then just be a lazy bastard about logistics. Besides they could sell more hot dogs and beer being qualifying could be after the truck race. They had time, and they got lazy. Excuses about stupid stuff and "commitments". How about the commitment to the fan to provide good racing and a fair game?

Or, but for good reason not to, they could have placed qualifying order based on practice times. This could get dangerous, works in F1 (being the tracks are 3 miles plus), but on a 1/2 mile track it could be costly. But I still say, after the truck race, it could be done.
