I'm gonna miss Kyle Petty in the booth. I like his point of view from a driver's standpoint. (Never really thought of Wally as much of a driver).
He also adds to the show with his technical knowledge as well as accurate knowledge of the history of the sport.
He's got a job when he finally retires for good.

I agree and enjoy him much more than Rusty, Mikey or Jaws.
I think it's funny when he calls himself an idiot!:)

We were talking about this yesterday, KP has done a great job in the booth....i cant wait for him to do this full time.

I'm gonna miss Kyle, Weber, Wally and Czarniak.

I am not at all looking forward to the Nextel Cup Series on ESPN. If their Busch coverage is any indication of what's to come, oh god. They're AWFUL.

i think they would do better if they got rid of Petree and Brewer....i love JP, but im not sure the booth is where he needs to be....they might need to move him down to the pit road and let him host the pre race.

I think they can keep Rusty though.

Jerry Punch is horrible.

Unfortunately, as long as he stays with TNT, he'll only be able to do 6 races. Fox isn't about to get rid of DW and ESPN will probably stick with Rusty for a few years and shuffle other members first. But I agree, he's got them all beat.

i think Kyle is going to run a few more years....when he retires i bet one of the other two pick him up.

I think if fans have any voice at all, by the time the next contracts come around, TNT will have a lot more than 6 races.

Personally, I wish the Cup races were scattered around networks instead of being on networks for consecutive races.

I also don't think Jerry Punch will be in the booth long (although I'm quite surprised they've kept him this long).

Unfortanently, Marty Reid is glued to IRL for however long ESPN has that, and I don't see ESPN promoting Allen Bestwick to the booth.

...

Maybe, ESPN will hire ME! :D :bounce: :pbjtime:

I'll gladly work next to Brienne Pedigo

Networks won't make changes during the season. If they were to make a change, it will be during the off-season.

based off the busch races, lets say ive watched ALOT less this year. And not because my schedule was busier.

Dr. Jerry would definitely make a better pit road reporter than the guy in the booth. When he was doing the pit road back in the day, he was great!

I am going to miss Kyle in the booth. As much as it pains me to say it, he makes a good partner for Wally.

Webber, on the other hand, needs to disappear under some rock.

I would take Kyle and Wally hands down over those biased motormouths, DW and Rusty!!!!! Put Dr Punch on pit road with Allen and get rid of Webber!!!!!
I don't even like to listen to Mikey doing the truck races!!!!!

I like Kyle and Wally in the booth. :) They make a great team. :)

I have made no secret of my feelings about Kyle Petty. He is a really class individual and I really liked hearing him on the broadcasts. I would rather hear him than anybody I've heard on any of the networks. He knows more than most and he doesn't come accross as a jackass who knows he is much better than you (as a DW or Rusty have a tendency to do). His humility, humor and just plain likability(sp?) make him a natural choice when he hangs up the helmet for good.

It is just a shame that he will never get to call one of Adam's cup races. :(

For Adam!!!! Most say he drove more like Richard. I got to see him at a couple of Bristol Busch races. Even bought a Adam Petty t-shirt.

I can't stand Rusty. I like DW, did not get to hear Petty much but what i did i liked.

I hope they dont let the nascar guys do the prelude at Eldora next year...none of them guys knew anything about dirt. Should of got people that knew what they were talking about!...ok off my rant

I actually like Weber.

It's like I said before, I think ESPN needs to put Punch in the studio host role in place of Brent Musburger or Susy Kolber. Then, put Bestwick in the play-by-play role with Petree and another driver (either Jarrett or Petty).

On a funny side note, I have said before that Punch lives here in Knoxville and a regular guest on the local sports talk station. He was on yesterday as he usually is on Mondays. One uninformed caller asked him when they started, who was in the booth, and what they'd be doing that was different from the other networks. As Punch was listing his co-announcers, he said they were going to follow the action on the track and promote the racing instead of talking about themselves. Nice shot at the Fox bunch, specifically DW.
