* Buckshot not racing in 2003: per the Buckshot00.com site and Buckshot Jones - "It is with great sadness that I must tell you that as of right now I have no plans to race full-time next season. Unfortunately, without a sponsor, there isn?t anything that we can do. We will be closing the website on November 30th. We will not continue the fan club in 2003. However, if an opportunity to race full-time arises, we will start the fan club and website back up. I can?t begin to tell you how much your support has meant to me throughout the years. Thank you for everything that you have done for me.(11-23-2002)

It's sad, but sometimes life's ambitions don't work out for everyone. Lot's of racers in the past have had to do what Buckshot is doing.......realizing that, though, you love something very dearly, you sometimes just have to move on.

Wish Buckshot the best of luck in whatever he does.

I must admit, I really didn't like Buckshot too much. I'm probably wrong, but I perceived him as spending dad's money trying to get into racing when he really didn't have that much experience.

I do wish him well, though.

Sometimes scrubs no matter how they are interprited by the sport can find work making bigger dollers then the lesser of the sport.;)

Don't feel too bad for Buckshot. He's got a degree from Georgia and his family has money. I really don't think he will be hurting much. He'll probably go back to racing at the local tracks so he can have his fun. I see that here quite a bit. There are a couple of boys who have had a shot now and then in the Busch series, but come back and race their late models when they don't have a ride anymore. I know that these guys want more than anything to make it big time, but there are only so many slots open and guys with a door open usually have a better shot at it. However, we are seeing more and more owners out looking for new talent away from the south.

Buckshot was never a racer that I cared for, even tho he is a Georgia Boy.

I guess he will (if he chooses) race at our local tracks if he still wants to race.

I wish him well.

Mrs buckaroo liked the little snot for some reason. Never knew why. However, she never did buy any souvineers of his. Was she just pulling my leg?

Buckshot exceled in Busch, but just was never able to find his footing in Winston Cup.

I for one didn't miss him this year.

Me neither. I could never understand what the Mrs saw in him. Maybe it was his butt as she's mentioned that about some of her other favorites. Sheesh, can't women see anything more in a man than that?

We see alot more than that, buckaroo. Like how well he fills out his pants. The size of his wallet. How blue are his eyes. How big are his muscles. Does he look good with a scruffy face? These are all important characteristics for a favorite driver.;) :p :D

Buckshot "excelled" in Busch??? Buckshot was an OK driver in the Busch series who gained most of his attention from the many on-track incidents he was involved in. But his performance is far short of "excelling" in the Busch Series.

His money and contacts took him to the Winston Cup Series and his lack of ability took him out of the WCS.

But without Buckshot, we never would have that great quote from Randy LaJoie.
It would seem the kid gave a little something to the sport after all! lol

I was trying to give some credit to Buckshot in his busch career, but you are mor than right, Whizzer. He was a good driver, but he never excelled. Then he just plain tanked in Cup.

I didn't really know of Buckshot until he made WC so I can't say anything about his Busch career just he tanked in WC and it gave me a new nickname for him. :D

Am I the only one who was a Buckshot fan? I got to meet him a couple a times. nice guy, shorter than me.
Signed some diecasts for me.

When evaluating Buckshot or anyone else on driving ability, consideration of personality is not and should not be an issue.

:D :D :D

Buckshot was a nice person, very fan-friendly I thought. But as far as his Winston Cup career, I just remember him excelling in his first race. When he replaced Hut Stricklin in the #8 Circuit City Stavola Brothers Chevy and finished 8th. Since then, that remained one of his top-finishes.

I hate it. I likes Buckshot. I think he could have done ok in the Busch races. But all good things have to come to an end.

ya know, i didnt miss him or care a whole bunch for him, but racing is different, i do wish him well in future endevours. maybe he;ll get a degree in engineering and start a team with another driver

I hate to see him go down the drain like that but I'm sure it won't be too long before he is in a racecar again. Maybe he should start over in the truck series. Good place to refresh a career. Look at Bliss.

i'm tellin ya, he will own a team and hire a driver. rcr replay

I think he will still try and persue a driving job. If people won't sponsor him, why would they sponsor the car he owns?

He needs to have $$ to build a team. I don't think he made much this year.

His daddy is why he was driving or should I say wrecking the 44 car. They should have just kept the Buckshot racing car going and moved that team up to cup.
