CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR has decided not to penalize Tony Stewart or Mike Bliss after their confrontation at Kansas Speedway last weekend.
Stewart and Bliss bumped several times during the latter stages of the Mr. Goodcents 300, a race Stewart ended up losing after a bump from Joe Nemechek put him in the wall.
Stewart and Bliss later tangled in Joe Gibbs Racing's Busch Series hauler, according to team president J.D. Gibbs. Bliss drives for JGR in the Busch Series, while Stewart does in the Nextel Cup Series.
Stewart, however, was driving a Chance 2 Motorsports entry in Saturday's race.
NASCAR met with all parties involved last weekend and decided not to act.
"We checked into the incident, and after reviewing the facts there is no need for NASCAR to react any further," NASCAR spokesman Mike Zizzo said via e-mail.
Gibbs it was an internal matter within the team and would not comment further on any actions the team may or may not take.
"That happened in our hauler, behind closed doors," Gibbs said Wednesday. "I'm going to treat it like it's a family issue. We've dealt with it and we're still dealing with it. But it's one of those things I'd rather not talk about now."
