Well, due to race weekend expansions, Eldora Speedway has done away with the Prelude To The Dream in 2013. This sucks! Ive been going every year now for 5 years..:(

Is it April 1st or something?

No way! Maybe they moved it to another date, but there's no way Tony cancels that race.

Nope, sad to say, it's not on the schedule next year. I confirmed this with representatives from Eldora this morning....:(

When this year's race was held, the rumor was going around it might not happen in 2013 because it's getting harder to get drivers to race in it.

That's disappointing to see. That race has raised a lot of money for charity over the years and has been fun to watch. Hope another track can put something together. It's a shame they couldn't find a way to keep it on the schedule, not only for the fans but the charities that could use the money for greater needs.

A lot of cars got torn up this year, might have had something to do with it too.

I guess the big fat man that waddled out with the cone couldnt manage two race nights in a week. And yes I am bitter. Ride a charity event to prominence and then dump it for a cash money event. I guess it was too good to last.

Might be back?

The Prelude to the Dream charity race at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway won't be on the calendar in 2013, but it may return in the future, Stewart told reporters Friday at Kansas Speedway.

"It takes a ton of work to put the Prelude on," he said. "We're changing our format for how we run the Dream (Late Model race) that weekend, making it a three-day weekend with that series. We're trying to focus on that a little bit more and some changes we think are going to be better for our Late Model race.

"We just needed to take a year off while we focus on that and make sure we don't get overloaded on that."

Lame ass excuse, In my opinion.

Oh, well, disappointing news - for me. I was sure they were going to move the date to an open Cup weekend and run it in conjuction with a NCWT race. Would've been a great doubleheader.

just my opinion:

eldora has expanded the dream and world weekends for the dirt latemodel fans and teams. the prelude, if it returns, would likely be tied in with the truck race. IF that happens.

Smart move. The focus needs to be on the real event rather than on NASCAR celebs playing around for a night.

That's great news. I don't know why this news upsets so many people, I mean has anyone even watched that 'race'?

Its not great news to the charities who were able to help more people or the people who enjoy racing of all kinds. It was a good event and brought in millions of dollars for charity.
