•No sponsor for Rookie of the Year award: Many reports have long-time sponsor Raybestos having dropped its backing / sponsorship of NASCAR's Rookie of the Year programs in the Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series. In Sprint Cup, only one rookie driver [Kevin Conway] ran the majority of the races in 2010 and no driver is scheduled to run the full Sprint Cup Series in 2011 as a rookie.(1-11-2011)

I guess it wouldn't make much sense to sponsor an award that no one was running for.

No need to worry. Maybe no rookies to run this year but certainly many possibilities for the future. I have to laugh when I read many of the posts of the impeding doom of the Nationwide Series because of the influx of the Cup drivers. It's really no different then it ever was outside of the few that have attempted to run for the Championship. The talent of the non Cup drivers does not go unnoticed by us fans nor the owners. Drivers come from many different forms of racing. There's plenty of talent out there. There's simply no seats becoming available. When they do, you'll possibly see the likes of.....

Trevor Bayne, Austin Dillon, Justin Allgaier, James Buescher, Ryan Truex, Josh Wise, Brian Scott, Cole Whitt, Travis Pastrana, Ricky Carmichael, Timothy Peters, Justin Lofton, Steve Wallace, Nelson Piquet Jr., Johanna Long, Patrick Sheltra, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Brad Sweet.....

The list goes on and on.

I doubt we're gonna see much from Sheltra... Carmichael, Wallace and Truex are there in name only... no sane owner is going to let Buescher in a quality ride... I like Johanna Long but she will be walled the minute she contends for a win just like Danica and Shawna Robinson.

I guess we have our lone rookie again.

•Brian Keselowski plans to run for Rookie of the Year: been told that #92-Brian Keselowski and his team are working on cars to run Sprint Cup for 2011 that Keselowski plans to run for Rookie of the Year. The team has recently acquired three Penske Dodges to go along with their current fleet of former Gillette/Evernham cars.(1-12-2011)
