just like the announcers, I'm amazed no one gambled and stayed out with it raining like it was.....even they got passed they still woulda had a good finish....oh well...on to the rock...

PS....Just like to congrats Steve and the #1 team for quietly and consistantly running in the top 15 and making progress...:D

nahhhh, woulda run out of gas.

Was surprising that he didn't take the gamble tho. But he wasn't running that well and if he fell a lap down he woulda been passed by a bunch of cars.

Still, he coulda stayed out and then pitted on the lap just prior to the green.....woulda just put him back at the end of the line.

I thought for sure kyle was going to stay out, him or michael. I figured michael might since he drives the napa auto parts car, and it was the napa auto parts 500 or 362 actually.

He should have stayed out or someone should have. It would have been the obvious shocker. It's a shame no one was risky.

Jimmie spun on lap 231, the race ended on 248. That's 17 laps. I seriously doubt Kyle could have gone that far (tho I don't know what lap he pitted on before but don't think he was out of sequence) or that he would have finished anywhere but the last car on the lead lap considering everybody else got tires.

The coution laps would of helped the fule miliage and pluse he had i think 10-15 laps on every one elese

Even so, he didn't have the speed or the tires. He was barely hanging on the lead lap as it was

I still thought it was worth the shot, especially for a team like Kyle that has had horrible luck. They knew the rain was coming, why not?

I thought the strategy was pretty conservative all race. The only gutsy calls was when Kyle Petty stayed out during the first rain delay, but I was surprised that more cars in the back of the back didn't follow him.

well, if I was running 16th or 17th anyway, I would have chosen to at least take 2 tires and go for it. It would have been interesting to see how that would have worked.

News this morning is that of the 17 laps run after Jimmie's spin, only 5 were green flag. From what I gather, everybody on the lead lap could have made it on fuel, but considering everybody took 4 I'ld imagine the tires weren't in the best of shape.

Best guess is that tire drop-off must have really showed on the lap times, and folks wanted that one last adjust the car for a sprint 4 tire change.

I guess being conservative is good, because you don't know when the rain is coming. I guess I am all for surprises and seeing someone take a risk. Would have been nice to see, but Kurt took the biggest chance of them all. Short-pitting and it won him the race.

Still, if you are the last car on the lead lap in danger of going down another, I would have taken a chance and tried taking two to get some track position. And since that was a short run at the end there, someone could have really benefitted from doing that. Ah well.
