My wife and I have been mulling over the idea of moving to Norman, Oklahoma. Her sister lives there and they are very close. Her sister teaches english at the University Of Oklahoma.

With both of our parents gone, we really don't have too much keeping us here. I have 4 brothers and 4 sisters, but we really aren't all that close. She has one sister around here and she is a pathological liar who takes every chance she gets to demean my wife. They only get together a few times a year, mostly for kids birthday parties, and it usually sucks. My kids have a few friends and my son in particular isn't real excited about leaving his best friend behind. But, a fresh start might be great for all of us.

I was wondering what any of you can tell me about the area. Cost of living? Crime issues? Availability of office jobs for my wife? (she works for a hand rehabilitation center right now). Anything else you think may be relevant information to consider?

there's a famous old dragstrip and a national weather center office in Norman. That's all i know.

Kansas or TMS would be your closest tracks.

My folks lived north of Norman, south of OKC and always preferred to do business in Norman. It's a nice city but as with any college town, it has it's faults. As you probably already know, the weather there is quite different than where you are now. There is plenty of sports in that area with OKC not far away and of course, the Sooners.
