Not a good day for parties yesterday here.

Not the heat for the one in Grand Prairie. He was just nutz.

The violence at a Grand Prairie skating rink Saturday night erupted after years of fear by 29-year-old Trini Do, who struggled to keep her family together.

Her estranged husband, Tan Do, 35, fired the shots that killed her and four of her family members during a birthday party for their 11-year-old son.

News 8 obtained court documents that reveal the mother's battle.

The first was filed in September 2008. Trini Do asked the court for a divorce. But she withdrew that request months later.

The next hint of trouble came more than a year later, in December 2010. That's when Trini Do requested a protective order against her husband. In the affidavit, she describes three chilling moments.

When she mentioned "divorce" again in 2010, she said her husband "dragged me into the closet, pulled his gun and shoot one to the ceiling," and that he threatened to shoot himself if she left.

Another time, she said her husband "dragged me into the kitchen and slammed me into his knee," and that he got "all the guns out," threatening to shoot if anyone showed up at their home.

On Thanksgiving Day 2010, after another fight, Trini Do said Tan Do "wouldn't let me sleep" and that he "poured water in my face every time I closed my eyes."

Despite those threats, we've learned that Trini Do had the protection order withdrawn — against the advice of her attorney — in March.

Just four months later, Tan Do opened fire at the roller rink.

too bad she didn't leave then. all of this would have been avoided if he committed suicide.

Sad, she missed a perfect opportunity.
