Notice how fast the emergency crew

i thought the same thing they were also quick to the first crash

great idea. just don't like the first car down gettin the lap back

I was truly happy to see the safety crews arrive much quicker. I agree with de7, I'm not much of a fan of the "giving" back a complete lap to the first lap-down car. If Nascar feels that that is a "necessary" practice since they have taken away the ability to "race" for a lap back, then why can't they just put the car on the tail-end of the lead lap, not at the end of the lead lap line. Make the car restart in front of the leader, therefore "earning" the right to stay on the lead lap. Just my $.02 for what it's worth.

Good idea except what do you do if the car went a lap down because it was REALLY REALLY slow?

I doubt the leader would like starting off getting stuck behind a slow car...how do you say 'hung out to dry...'

But i totally agree it seems lame to just 'let them back on the lead lap...'

We'll figure it out sooner or later...hopefully!

The car that gets the free pass goes to the end of the line of cars on the lead lap. The second car a lap down gets to race the leader.

Giving the lap back just plain sukz !!! Make'em earn it. Junior most likely would have gotten his lap back and that is the way it should be. Even though Newman has been the recipient of the free pass, he agrees cars a lap down should earn the lap back.

I think I've made my feelings on racing back to the line under yellow known on more than one occassion. I have said all along that traveling safety crews were not the answer, but the yellow flag rule needed to be changed. The best responders in the business are helpless if they are required to sit beside the track until the field gets around to the line and the pace car picks them up as it was under the old rules.

As far as giving the first car a lap down the lap back, why not make them try to earn it back. IF they are one lap down and that fast, no problem, if they're a lap down and not that fast, then they (the driver and team a lap down) have a problem that is their's to try and solve. Giving them a lap back sort of defeats the whole idea and concept of racing, doesn't it?

Whatever happened to automobile racing? It seems to have been lost somewhere along the way to becoming a sports entertainment venue, doesn't it?
Or is that simply my overworked imagination?

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!
