It's not exactly current events, but this is what racing SHOULD be.
Big cars on bigger tracks.
 
Eh, I'm not really a fan of "offline" leagues. One of the great things about sim racing is the multiplayer aspect. You're going up against other real life players and competing them head to head. What makes it exciting is that virtually every player is a wild-card. You don't know what they're going to do or how they're going to race you. Esp if you race outside of an established league.

Racing against the AI is boring because you can adjust the AI and can easily beat it.
