Hey Bucky, when you get your driveway shoveled out, come on down and do mine. The snow plow just went thru again....  We got 8 inches the other day in Milwaukee.

Snow? Is that the white stuff on the ground? I vaguely remember seeing something like that before. Turned out to be ice tho...

I had to do an event up in Olympia a weekend ago. I am still on the road trying to get back home.

I have never seen so much snow in my life. Every day the next section of highway ahead is closed. I spent two nights in Portland. Finally had to chain up the truck and trailer to get over the Blue Mountains in Oregon.

When I got to Ontario, Or. the next day I had to run on snow and ice all the way to Twin falls. It took the whole day to get there. Then the next day, I get up and find the highway at the Idaho-Utah border is closed. But it reopens at noon and I finally get to Evanston, Wy. But I can't get past Rock Springs because 80 is closed in Wyoming past that point.

So I spend the night in Evanston, 80 reopens and I get to Goodland, Ks. that night. In the meantime, I am smelling anti-freeze inside the truck and my windows keep fogging up.

You guessed it....... the heater core is on its way out. Good ole GM junk. So I get to Tulsa and I am waiting for them to replace it. It is an 8 to 9 hour job as you have to pull the whole dashboard to replace it. So you wonder why I by Japanese vehicles and stay away from American junk? This is the 5 truck in our fleet that has had to have the core replaced. And my truck only has 100K miles and is 18 months old.

So I might get out of here tonight and get home by Wednesday sometime. I will only be 5 days late in getting home.

I don't care if I don't see another snowflake the next five years

Jeez Guido, you really do have my sympathy. That was a rough trip.

So Guido did you take the time to get out and make snow angels every so often. I'd hate to think you missed all that opportunity to enjoy your good fortune. And, think of all the snow cream you could have made. That's about all I miss from seeing snow...

Too bad you didn't have Kurt Bush with you . He would have had a ball doing snow angels. :D

They got the truck fixed at 530 pm and $971 later.

So I hit the road right away and got to Nashville at 3AM.

I have to wait until 1 PM local time before I can legally get on the road again but that isn't a problem. It is only 7 hours from here to the shop in Welcome and I will pull up short tonight, take a room and get to the office in the morning............. 5 days late.

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone.

Giodo, you drive 18wheelers? Who for? Or have i just had a mind lapse?

I've driven them before. Right now I am driving a GMC 3500 dually and pulling a two-car 48 ft. trailer.

I have a Toyota show car inside. Just wish the truck was a Toyota too.

Hey Guido, hurry up and get home. We need to hook up so we can gossip! Too bad one of your cars isn't sponsored by Hooters. Now that would be a hoot! I do remember some of the stories you've told me in the past. :growl:

i read that yota wanted to do a 1 ton tundra or something like that but cost kind of lcoked them down.

Man we ain't had a snow like that in years. I would love to have one good snow.

The heck with the snow. We need rain. Seems like everyone got rain yesterday except us. It went East of us and West of us but none where I live.

Well last week we broke the record of 76 inches of snow fall in the winter season. More on the way:mad:  :crash:

SUNDAY:
***WINTER STORM WATCH THROUGH MIDNIGHT SUNDAY NIGHT***
Mostly cloudy, becoming windy, and turning colder with mixed precipitation gradually changing to all snow; heavy snow is possible from late Sunday morning into Sunday evening. Snow accumulation of 5"-12”+ is possible by late Sunday night. Blowing and drifting snow is possible by Sunday night.
High: 32; temperatures falling through the 20s in the afternoon
Wind: NNW increasing to 15-25 MPH in the afternoon

Screw that!

I'm heading to Daytona today. :D

from my uncle:

We finally got up the Idaho cabin today. Roads clear up to Sandpoint, but a bit surprised by how bad Rapid Lightning Creek road was. It is the paved country road that runs the 4 miles up to where we cut off onto the 3/4 mile private road that leads to the entry to our land. I don't think Rapid Lightning Creek had been plowed and with the temps into the high 30s to low 40s the hard pack had turned to a foot of rutted slush. The private road to our place was actually in real good shape (still need 4wd). Unfortunately I only made it about 200 yards up the road when I came across an injured juvenile moose splayed across the road. I then had to back up real slow down the icy one lane road out to Rapid Lightning Creek road where we parked the 4 Runner and decided to hike up the road to our place. Had to be real careful to give the injured moose a wide berth. I think it had an injured shoulder and broken front legs. Probably slid down the hill, from what I could tell. Called the Idaho F&G. My guess it needed to be put down. We saw its sibling further up the mountain but no signs of mama.

Anyways hiked up to our driveway entrance and found as expected a plowed berm about 7 feet high. Threw on the snowshoes and broke fresh track for Dianne and Karen to follow behind in. Snow depth is probably is probably 4-5 feet. Got down to the cabin and found what I was expecting or afraid of. The snow load on the north side of the roof had crushed the woodstove pipe and it is about 25 degrees off kilter. It had not been taken off yet by the sloughing of the snow load on the roof, but I think that is because the snow on that side really does not have anywhere else to slide too. The snow has already piled to the height of the roof edge. I did my best to break some of it loose from the roof but probably not good enough.I need a ladder to get in a position that I can easily reach the snow, even though I am standing at about roof level. I also was surprised at the snow tension hanging onto the south facing solar panels. I do not think they are in a position to be damaged, because the snow load should be downward parallel to the panels. Just weird the way it was able to build up and stick there. Anyway will need to fix the stove pipe, but no major damage yet. One of my neighbors said he would keep an eye on the snow loads for me and break the snow loose if we get another big dump. Right now with the higher temperatures, things are thawing out a bit.

Anyway just another learning experience. Finally got a real winter to do so.

Still having fun.

The attached pictures tell the story.
