NYC Cancels New York Marathon

It did seem pretty stupid that they were going to be running through areas that still had no utilities and passing out bottled water to runners while the people they were passing still had no clean water to drink.

I can't believe how many people are outraged the race isn't happening. Someone messaged me last night griping about it, saying that they should've gone out of their way to make the race happen because the money, down the road, could help hurricane victims.

Um, they need help now. No excuse for generators and valuable resources going to benefit the runners of that race when there's people dying in the areas they would be running through. It just exposes the "me, me, me" attitude many people have in today's society. When you have 109+ people dead, others without power, food or water, running a marathon isn't important.

And the sports fans who are upset about this...... I love sports as much as the next guy, but come on. Reminds me of the Penn State students vandalizing other peoples' property when Joe Paterno was fired. Some people put sports ahead of way too much.

This guy who was barking last night didn't care in the least that people were dying. He thinks they should've run that race regardless because it's one of his favorite sporting events.

They made the right call. City employees have more important things to do than deal with this marathon.
