Last night at my local dirt track Western Springs was the NZ champs.
Our new champion is Kerry Brocas who it's 55 years old! I'm not sure what that says about the sport down here but he passed Michael Pickens who came second.

Looks like a nice track! I've heard of Western Springs before. Do they run sprints or midgets at any other tracks in NZ? I know Australia has a ton of tracks that run 410 sprints, i dont know about NZ well though.
 
Because the track was built in 1929 it is in the middle of suburbia.....I'm literally 10 minutes to home....but some folks are always trying to get it shut down.
There are noise restraints and time curfews put on the race meetings but not all of the neighbours are upset about the races as you can see..... Nor I'm sure about the many concerts held here.

Thanks for the link! Lots of interesting info.
I didn't realize that you guys have stock cars similar to the BRISCA F1 Stock cars in the UK.
Are there any touring series that go around to the various tracks for 410 sprints or midgets?
Like Australia has the World Series Sprint cars.

We're not that big. But summer schedule (Christmas and beyond) here is awesome!
And yes about 20 minutes away from me we have Waikaraka Park which has the Stock Cars like those english ones.
They are a lot of fun.

At Western Springs I really mean as it's my local.

Yeah, I know you mean the track has its own local track championship. Seems like thats mostly what Australia has, but they do have the 1 touring series (World Series Sprintcars) as well. Just wasnt sure if NZ had any touring series like that at all
 
We have this new 3 race series about to happen at 3 different venues on the North Island called Rolling Thunder.
Sprint cars, Open Grade Midgets and Super Saloons.

I'm pretty sure that Steve Williams will be racing in his Super Saloon. You may remember him as being Tiger's caddy during his wonder years.
