Office Depot not returning to SHR as primary sponsor in 2013

Fair enough. The Random thread was designed to prevent thread overload, and it works real well for things like this.

Okay , Ill move my comment here . Danica may be the only SHR driver with a sponsor next year . That may be a bummer.

Facts, Speculation, Innuendo, Lies, Bullsheet, My head hurts. Goin to get a beer, relax and think about this sheet later. :owquitit:

while you did beat me to it, this subject is bigger than random nascar discussion that it should warrant it's own thread.
Says who, what is the referees name and credentials, I heard a time out as they discussed thread encroachment but did not hear the consensus of the judges and their ruling.

I was under the impression that after the bill attempting to block Military sponsorship failed to go thru ( Whew! ) that Army was back in discussions about sponsoring the 39???

It was my understanding they decided to leave before the decision.

It was announced that their sponsorship ended at years end and the media took off with it without explaining that ALL Military Sponsorships are on a Year to Year basis. Then the talk of the bill came up and things went south from there.

Thanks GP! Still has Mobil 1 for 16 races anyway!

Damn economy's killin us all....We need to do something about it.

I just had a vision and was told to post the following (if you don't like it take it up with the alien)

Tony was mismatched with the officemax product line.

A max feminine hygiene product that's designed for stout robust office women just doesn't get the representation it needs from Tony and it even has some bad connotations.
Like when Tony's racing a blood red old spice car, it just doesn't send a positive vibe. Bad color and aroma.

The worst case was when Tony all PMS-isy-ed on Kenseth last week like a big Bertha during a five day deal, follow the time line about 5 days later he is wanting to make nice (oh, I didn't mean I hate your guts and hope you die).

.... I would post the immoral of the story if I had been giving more information

It's not the economy: Sponsorships are multimillion dollar commitments that are not worth it in most cases. NASCAR is pricing themselves out of the market.

i think nascar should put a cap on how much a team can take in sponsorship money. this will help even out the playing field

Problem is teams will figure out a way to skirt the rules like they do everything else.

I like the intent, and I would love to see cost contained to under ten million per team, and I would like to 60 entries at least per race.

But that would require tons of resources to police, and it is probably impossible. It also could hurt folks or kill off a lot of careers. Many of those folks dreamed of racing all their life just like the drivers, racing budgets have built a big industry.
I really hate the business end or corporate part of racing. But it is a necessary evil, there could a lot of negative unintended consequences

I would have said burger and pizza sponsors.

looks a bit like smoke

Well it looks like Ryan Newman will be back with SHR next year anyway:

Newman re-signs with Stewart Haas: Ryan Newman has agreed to a one-year contract extension with Stewart-Haas Racing. The extension will ensure Newman is the driver of SHR's #39 Chevy through the end of the 2013 season. Newman and SHR have been involved in negotiations for several weeks. An official announcement from the team could come as soon as this weekend.(Charlotte Observer)
UPDATE: Newman has agreed to a one-year deal to remain with the team, a Stewart-Haas Racing spokesman confirmed Thursday.(Sporting News)(9-6-2012)(9-6-2012)

I think it has to do with lack of sponsorship. I am sure SHR has enough to run him a year, but if nothing can be found next year he will probably move on. If a sponsor can be secured for Newman he will probably sign a multi year deal.
