Oh boy, Michigan

Am I the only one looking forward to tomorrow's race? Haven't read any threads today where anyone seemed excited about Michigan. Could it be that folks aren't happy that DEI and RCR dominated qualifying? Heck, it's a long race and Michigan being a track that is not a heavy wrecker, anyone can win......even the guys starting in the last few rows!! I wonder if Jr will lead more than the first lap (he's had handling problems all year), Mikey won today but this is a different series and he has some very heavy competition tomorrow. I see Robby is up there...bet he brushes the wall and fades quickly (more whining, I'm sure). Jeffie's starting about where he usually starts.....mid pack but he'll slither his way up to the front! Sterling has his work cut out starting at 26th.....but he's done it before (however, he's a little overdue for some bad luck). Tony's got his counselor cheering him on so maybe he will turn the corner and go into his last half season of tearing em up!! Wonder if Kurt starting at 13th is far enough ahead of Jimmy (34th) that he's safe.........but remember Jimmy had to sit out last week for a hired gun and he may just have something to prove to ole Chip! And look at DJ.....he's starting 8th!! DJ's been coming on strong lately so he could show a few young guns (and some old timers too) a trick or two!! I think it's going to be a good race!!:)

Intellicast is calling for mostly cloudy in the morning with a 30% probability of rain "later in the day" (whatever that means) and high of 84 degrees. So weather looks decent too.:)

I'm excited about tomorrow's race, DE!

I didn't want to say too much, though, for fear of being called naive or being told that Dale Jr. on the pole is a total farce. Know what I mean? :uhmnotsur

If today's Busch race is any indication, it should be very exciting indeed. I don't think Junior will win, but I also don't think he'll do as badly as widely hoped. At least, I hope not. :)

I think it will be a good race, and the fords and dodges will be up at the front once the green flag drops. The Chevys will be able to run with em now. I hope it is as good as the race today. I have seen to many races with ford and dodge filling up the top 10 spots, now some of the bowties should be on the leader board(top 10).

Abooja, don't let the DEI/RCR detractors stop you from being excited about Jr, Mikey, Steve, Kevin, Jeff and (heaven forbid) Robby doing well at qualifying!!:) Nascar gave Chevy a little aero help......it'll get cancelled out when either Ford, Pontiac or Dodge whine enough!! Top qualifiers are in no way guarenteed a top finish.........especially at Michigan. It'll be a good race and the teams (no matter what make) that gets it together the best will wind up finishing well.

I think Jr will do much better than what some say he will.......and if he does, there will be someone say he did it unfairly. Oh well, he has been known to root people out of the way......guess that's one of the reasons I like him. And, I still say Jeffie will win, and win convincingly.......tomorrow may be his day! I'm interested in what Jimmy Spencer will do........he has something to "prove" to a few people. Lot's of stuff to watch tomorrow!! Could be all the crap about Tony, Chip making it impossible for Jimmy to make last week's race, the Busch/Spencer feud.....etc. that makes me excited about tomorrow. At any rate, I'm going to enjoy it!!:)

I'll be watching, not my favorite track, but its not resrictor racing atleast :) Remember fuel mileage when at Michigan. Cmon Smoke, get up front and knock those chevy boys around :)

I'm looking forward to the race! I hate to jinx the drivers though and seems anyone I mention ends up in the back of the pack. Also, watching qualifying, happy hour and then reading the other practice times on line, I can't for the life of me figure out who has the best chance to win. Abooja, don't let whoever make you feel bad for rooting for the DEI group. I like them myself---some days I don't like any of the drivers, most of the time I love the majority of them. For obvious reasons you can tell who my favorite is but I love Tony too and that's not a very popular spot right now.

I just wish them all luck and most of all, safe racing.

What it means is that 3 times out 10 under like conditions, it has rained.....or rather that 7 times it didn't. So, there is a 70 percent chance that it won't rain.....anyways....

Michigan is a wide open racetrack. My main complaint about the race is that it is only 400 instead of 5 or even 600 miles. On any given race wknd, a team has maybe 3 and half hours of track time to get ready. While sometimes a team might just have the wrong car and 10 hours wouldn't be enuf, those teams whose testing budget is limited are at an extreme disadvantage. Longer races level the field mid-pack while also allowing those teams that are on the right track to really jump out and dominate towards the end.

People are talking about the smaller tanks at Dega in not the nicest terms, but there is going to be more opportunity for adjustments which might just mean the difference between a top 20 and a top 10 for a few folks. In some case it might even mean a win.
