Ok, so I was listening to an 80's song list on my computer a minute ago and this song came on and it got me to thinking. Is Van Halen's remake of The Kinks' song You Really Got Me the greatest cover ever? What do you think? If not, what do you think might be?

I thought about doing that, but I didn't really want it to be just another one in that thread. The greatness of that song really struck me yesterday.
 
Yeah, that is a pretty good (well, great really) cover. But to me, Johnny Cash's cover on the Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt" is just heart-wrenchingly good.
 
That is a good cover. I like them Scorpions but hadn't heard that

I don't know about the best ever, but that one is a really great cover and video as well. I posted that video in the "ongoing songs you like" thread a few days ago. The video makes it even more haunting.
 
Not in the running for best ever by any means, but this is cool.
