Personally, I like Mike Joy better. I like Bestwick, but the more I hear him, the more I dislike him. It must be something in his voice. I've listened to Mike for many years and I guess I'm more comfortable with him.

Mike Joy. Alan Bestwick takes a lot of undeserved abuse though.

Alan. Anyone who can keep Mikey strait (on IWC) gets my vote. Cris Econmacki (sp?) on the old WWoS on ABC was the best racing anouncer.

Chris Econamacki set the bar many years ago on any sports announcing.:D "The thrill of victory, the agnony of defeat".

Mike Joy. Been listening to him announce races since the late 60's. Lives in Connecticut about 20 minutes down the road. Did you know he drives sports cars at Lime Rock?

I knew that he raced before and it seems like I heard him talk about racing at Lime Rock, but that's been so long ago. I think that he has done some celeb racing lately, mostly for fun. Remember when he used to call the F1 races at ESPN and did it from the monitors? Now that takes some talent.

Joy seems to have more fun and is more laid back than Allen. Plus Allen's laugh makes me do this :bleh: , along with is hair.

Allen just reminds me of Howdy Doody!! He should be sitting in BPs' lap:D

I like them both. I kinda like Alan better but the both are good and both do great jobs. I was sure about Alan at first when he came to TV. But I begane to like him, i think he is better on the radio IMO. Mike seems more like a regular guy, and Alan seems a little bit more like a TV guy.

PB, I can't agree with you more. I really liked Alan better when he was on MRN. He's not bad on TV, but just the same, I liked him better on the radio.

Boy i just noticed all the spelling mistakes in that last post!! Sorry about that!!!

One person I do think held on way past his prime was Ken Squier. Between the two I enJOY Mike better over Alan. Although if I ever needed a key note speaker I would snatch Alan in a flash.

Mike used to work for Jackie Arute in CT at Stafford Springs. That track has sent at least three guys to the TV booth, and all were above average....must be the beer in CT

Always liked Mike Joy. Never could stand Alan. If there's one person in the booth's I get rid of, it'd be Alan.

He was good, so was Squier. But that quote he stole from the ABC exc. who just passed away. Can't think of his name, but he started ABC's wide world of sports, and Monday night football among other things. :)

Bob Jenkins and Larry Nuber set the bar for me. In my humble oppinion these two were and will always be the best duo in race announcing. Squier and Econamaki held on far too long in there careers and became caricatures of themselves. The new breed, i like 'em all.

Bob Jenkins and Eli are also good mentions. I miss Jenkins the most. Then again i miss NASCAR on ESPN.

Jenkins made so many mistakes!! I liked him, but he was always messing up. Mixing the drivers up. Watch any ESPN classic race. It's hilarious.

I always liked Larry Nuber too, but from what I read, he didn't get a very good rating from the execs. I remember when Bob and Larry did their recap show and it had them both sitting on the fence at the track. Of course, it was a prop. Larry died a few years ago.

Eli Gold all the way!!!!!

You mean the same Eli Gold who formerly announced NASCAR Winston Cup races. The guy who sat in the annoncers seat at Martinsville about 1990 or so and said, "well here we go with another boring day of racing at Martinsville" (sic) ??

Bob Jenkins.

Of the choices given, Mike Joy.

Economacki got on my last ever-lovin nerve.

Eli Gold is a good second banana, but not much of a lead announcer.

I'll still take Barney Hall over any of them. (MRN)

And to no one's surprise, the one who HAS to go is Jaws IMO.

Him too, now that you mention it. He looks like he's storing nuts for the winter in his cheeks. :D

WAIT JUST A SEC!!!! Did I just hear you say Bristol was... boring? Are you outta your mind??!?!!
