Looking to see if anyone has some experience or advice in an online raffle.

My wife volunteers at cat rescue organization in town. Recently, someone donated a beautiful 1957 Chevy convertible to them, asking them to sell the car, with half of the profit going to them, half going to his church. We're thinking an online raffle would be the way to go.

Thoughts?

PM me the link when you figure it out.

"...sell the car, with half of the profit going to them, half going to his church..."
This maybe could cause a problem. Better check the IRS and State tax office's rules before following through.
A nonprofit in NC that we try to help (classified as 403(c) I think) can raffle off donations, but can't legally give money back to the donor.

By "them" I mean the rescue organization. And the other hapf to the church. Nothing is going back to the donor.

Oops... probably no problem then, particularly if both receivers are already listed by the tax offices as charities in good standing.

An idea about promoting your raffle online - yak it up as much as you can on social media, with links to where people can buy tickets. The website alone may not be effective enough, but bringing in Facebook et. al. really helps. Also since this is to earn money for charity you might get some free exposure on local TV and radio stations... if you find the right people there and ask nicely enough. You can also ask people such as church members to post about it, send e-mails to friends, etc., (ask them to check if it's okay before they use company e-mail, if they're thinking about doing that).
