It's really a shame that we can't see more of the independent/smaller teams being even remotely capable of competing at Daytona. They are what make the Busch Series fun to watch, not the Cup guys turning it into the NCPS.

Chatroom?

Hey Jee....I'm kinda new here and I think you are new here too...my question is:

is there a chatroom for the race here? If not do you know of a good one?

Well that shoutbox thing is a neat little fixture. I hadn't even seen it, yet...haven't gotten around to "exploring" yet.

I'm ready for some racin'!

I'm ready for the race.

And that truck race last night was a wild one! !

You got that right!

The best truck race I've seen this year;)

All jokes aside, that was one heck of a race.

Nice move on Benson's part to push Sprague and then dive low for 2nd although Kvapil kind of gave it away and he knew it.

Also, I'm not sure that Benson didn't make that pass below the line but Wlatrip said it was clean so I guess it must be true

I didn't get to catch the truck race. I did, however, watch some of the video clips on NASCAR.com. I really like how the draft works so much better with the trucks. Being so much bigger, they create a bigger hole in the air (and subsequently, a bigger draft) which makes it possible to do more of the "sling-shot" type maneuvers that we saw pre-restrictor plate racing.

Good to hear/see some familiar faces/voices. Bret Musburger (sp?), IMO, was born to do sports commentary.

Also looks like they stole Allen Bestwick.

Yeah they pretty much have the TNT repoters..well sort of

Man, those cars are loose! Both wrecks caused by the same thing: they go three wide, car in the middle loses downforce, chain reaction backs people up.

DEI seems down on power or something. They are flying right by Truex & Menard up there. Junior still hanging back, but his car looks pretty racy.

Whaddya know? Harvick won a Busch race...

IMO, at this point in his career, he could make more of a name for himself by establishing himself as a dominant Busch driver than as an average Cup driver (a la Frank Kimmel to ARCA).

If they really wanted an outstanding show they would have signed up my Krista for all 3 series.

I wonder if I should stop the Krista crap now. You know who hasn't been seen in a week...

I kinda wonder about you're strange obsession with Kirsta Voda.

Average Cup driver.

Let's see you go out there and win 5 Nextel Cup races in a single season and want to be called "average."

I think anybody that has a NNC victory has their place in history, and that's far above "average."

Agreed, with how competetive the competition has gotten 1 win is golden nowdays.

lol...Kevin? that you?

j/k ;)

I was more towards making a point about his Busch Series dominance and how his success in that series hasn't translated nearly as well to the Nextel Cup.

jeefunk, if you hang around here long enough (probably Sunday afternoon) you'll come to realize that it's open season on some drivers while posting anything remotely negative about others is like breaking the ten commandments AND pissing on the Alamo at the same time.

However, with a thick skin and a supply of cold beer, you'll get used to it - at least I did.

Of course there's always the satisfaction of helping someone back themselves into a corner :)

haha, thanks, but I'm not too worried about it.

I was an admin myself at a NASCAR board and am currently a mod at a couple NFL-related boards, so I'm fully aware of how things go ;)

5 NNC wins in 2006. 1st career win comes in his 3rd career start. Yep, you're right, he hasn't had really good success in Nextel Cup.

Sure, last year he did great, but that's not been typical of Harvick so far in his NASCAR Nextel Cup career. OK, so he won in his third start. So what? McMurray won in his second. McMurray must be great, too, based on that. Harvick has never had another season w/more than 1 win other than 2001 when he had two, and he didn't even win one in 2004, which was part of a 55-race streak where he had 0 wins.

And last year was his first time being a legitimate threat for the title (arguably so in 2003).

Look, I'm not saying he hasn't had success in NNC, but he's been incredibly successful in Busch and that his Busch Series success hasn't translated to NNC success at anywhere close to the same level.

Childress as a whole hadn't been up to par in Nextel Cup. :owquitit:

If you knew anything about raccing, which I fully expect you don't, you'd realize, even in 2002, Harvick was a factor more times than not.
