The second week of the O'Reilly MLRA 2006 Thunder Tour gets into the swing Friday and Saturday, April 7 & 8, with visits to both LA Raceway in LaMonte, MO and Winston Speedway, in Winston, MO. The events are the opening night for the 2006 racing season at both tracks.
Friday, April 7, the O'Reilly MLRA will travel to LA Raceway for the first of two events during the 2006 Thunder Tour. Defending O'Reilly MLRA champion Al Purkey took home the win in the last visit to the speedway, but will have a field of tough competitors looking to keep him from notching another victory. Local favorites Chris Smyser, Jason Bodenhamer, Chad Clark will be joined by other traveling regulars Alan Vaughn, David Turner, Mike Brown, and Brett LaFollette will lead a contingent looking to battle their way to the win and the $2500 payday in the 40 lap action packed feature event. Gate open at 5:00 pm with racing action set to get underway at 7:30 pm. General admission tickets are available for $12.00 with kids 6-15 $6.00 while 5 and under are free. Pit passes for the night are only $25.00. Street stocks will also be taking to the track on the evening racing for $350.00 to win.
Saturday, April 8, will see the crews and driver's head north to Winston Speedway. The 30 lap a feature is sure to see the typical side by side racing action that fans have come to know at Winston Speedway. Gates open at 5:00 pm with racing action taking to the track at 7:00 pm. General admission tickets are only $13.00 with kids 4-12 $4.00 and those 3 and under are free. Pit passes for the event at $25.00 each. IMCA Modifieds, Grand National Hornets, Stock Cars, and Hornets will also be taking to the track for action on the evening.
