I've seen everything but these. Guess I oughta add them to my "need to see" list.

- Argo
- Beasts of the Southern Wild
- Django Unchained
- Les Miserables
- Life of Pi

Not a single one.

I can't find the year that "debbie does ☆dallas★" won.

I hope Lincoln and Les Miserables win every award.

I still haven't made it through Slumdog Millionaire........ that is, honestly, the worst movie I have ever watched.

Les Miserables being nominated for best picture is a joke. It got only average reviews and is about the 40th adaption of that story.

Out of all of those movies, these are the only ones I've seen and what I thought of them

2007 - "No Country for Old Men" --- Not bad, but certainly nothing special
2006 - "The Departed" --- I didn't like it much at all. I usually love those kinds of movies, but not this one.
2001 - "A Beautiful Mind" --- Now that one, I liked
2000 - "Gladiator" --- Really good
1994 - "Forrest Gump" --- I liked it better than I thought I would
1992 - "Unforgiven" --- Wow, what a huge disappointment. I love Clint Eastwood, but this movie was just horrible. Way too slow and just a lousy premise to start with.
1991 - "The Silence of the Lambs" --- One of my two or three favorite movies ever. Awesome!
1990 - "Dances With Wolves" --- Pretty good
1989 - "Driving Miss Daisy" --- Pretty good
1988 - "Rain Man" --- Pretty good, and better than I thought it would be
1981 - "Chariots of Fire" --- Pretty good
1976 - "Rocky" --- Just a great movie
1974 - "The Godfather Part II" ---Great
1973 - "The Sting" --- Really good
1972 - "The Godfather" --- Just great
1965 - "The Sound of Music" ---Holy crap! I still have nightmares of my sister making me watch it when I was little.
I haven't seen any of the movies that are up for awards this year. In fact I think the last movie I saw in a theater was The Green Lantern.

Movie critics lost a lot of credibility with me when I went to see The Crying Game at the theater years ago. Critics were just totally in love with that movie. When the hot chick turned out to be a guy and how his love interest found out about it by getting an eyeful of junk, I understood why the critics loved it. I guess it made them feel progressive or something to say they loved the movie, but why in the hell would most people want to see something like that, especially on the big screen?

I've seen quite a few of the Best Pictures. I think the best Best Picture has to be Schindler's List. Such a powerful movie.

Argo winning is a joke. It's a good movie but, for a movie that's based on true events, it's filled with so many historical inaccuracies it would require a novel to rebut.

Django Unchained doesn't interest me in the least. I've seen enough Tarantino movies and they're all the same - a three hour movie that could be summarized in an 80 minute movie. I've never understood all the praise for Tarantino - his movies are alright but they are way too long, drawn out and about 135 minutes of a 140 minute Tarantino movie is just snoozy.

Anyone notice that with a few exceptions the movies up for best picture are rarely box office successes? Granted box office success says nothing about the quality of a film but....

They look for totally different things than average viewers do. Still, I think Argo is overrated.
