We're here because we follow Na$car. What other interests or hobbies do you have?

Good books(not e-readers) -- real books. LOL

Needlepoint, crochet, cross-stitch, sewing

Gardening

Camping. In our younger days took lots of jeep trips into the mountains of Colorado, following the old mining roads.

Travel --- although right now we stay close to home.

Music (listening and playing), books, other sports, Amish porn (just kidding), poker, tv and movies...

I like working out, good stress reliever. Love fly fishing, especially up in the "backwoods" of Maine. I read a lot, love going for long hikes with my dogs, and camping is right up there on the list too.

Bass guitar, looking for some fellow old farts to play some classic country.
My 68 Torino GT Fastback, getting painted. Chomping at the bit to get it back on the road.
Woodworking. I build and sell outdoor furniture to support my car addiction.
My second favorite toy. Bought it new in 82.

I love to travel, at the age of 20 I've now been to 42 of the 50 states in August I will have knocked out 49, and in 2012 I will reach all 50.

I also like being outside camping and such.

Fishing. A lot. When the weather is good (or when the season opens, depending on specific rules), I'm out there every chance I get.

I love automotive stuff, although I'm not as entrenched in it as I once was. I have an old Volvo to mess around with, that's about it. I do have a couple vehicles on my mind that I'd like to get when the time, er... money is right though.

Outside of that, I dabble a little bit in a lot of things that I don't think I'd officially list as hobbies. For example, I like carpentry/woodworking, but I'm no Norm Abram.

I do enjoy bass fishing, but anything that'll bite will do. I also like reading, and upgrading my computer, when I have the cash squirreled away.

My fun things change from time to time. Was heavy into golf at one time and got the handicap down to single digits, but that was a "while" ago and I could play two or three times a week. Now I might play once a year so a handicap lower than 30 would be good! I've also dabbled in building and repairing golf clubs. I still have a lot of equipment, but it's old hat stuff now. Always wanted to someday be able to retire and run a small proshop. Another hobby was building modern military jets in 1/48 scale. Learned to decal correctly and use an airbrush. Got away from that when I moved south and was more into computers than anything. Then one day, as the wife had control of the one computer in our house, I got a hair in me to give another hobby a try. I went to a local hobby shop and bought a wooden boat kit of a Spanish Galleon named the San Francisco. Since that time, I've built three complete wooden ships. Besides the SF, I built the CSS Alabama, a confederate raider that was not only tall masted, but also steam powered. The the Mayflower. Building those three ships took almost four years. Now I have five other projects going on at the same time but I haven't touched any of them in over two years. To try to get my mind back into modeling, I purchased some plastic WW II aircraft in 1/72 I wish that I had gone back to the bigger scale, but now I have some great planes that I need to finish with two of my favorites that I don't want to mess up. Those two are, 1) the pilots favorite fighter of WW II, the P51 and the version I will build on of those Blue Nose Bastards of Bodney...

And 2) An RCAF Dehavilland Mosquito that was flown by an American, James "Lou" Luma. 1st Lt. Luma became an ace flying the "Moonbeam McSwain" , my avatar.

But as with the boats, I've reached a wall and haven't toucheda thing for well over three months. I've sunk money after money into tools for those small models and can cut strips of wood less than 1/32 in. I've got three airbrushes and all the stuff that goes with that. I want to get back to close to the skill I had about 15 years ago before I start on those two planes.

Our other hobby is heading to the beach as often as we can. Won't be long now.

I like reading good mystery or scary books. I also used to write stories but I kind of gave up on that awhile back. I like to kick back and listen to music as well. I love to get in the car and drive. Sometimes I've got in the car with no where to go just so I could drive.

designing floral arrangements of corse.
Music: i play keyboard, claironet by ear and love to sing.
sports,football,soccer,basketball, figure skating
ballet, dance
i'm a published writer (poetry). short stories for children.

Ok, my turn. Since selling off my woodworking equipment, still have my table saw though, I've been bored out of my mind!

I want something that'll get my hands busy again [idle hands are the devils workshop ya know:p] and also stimulate my mind.

I've decided on model railroading. I've got space in my basement 14x28 where my old shop resided.

While unavoidable to buy a lot of stuff I hope to scratch build the buildings, bridges, scenery etc.

Thanks for posting your interests.

Good luck with the model railroading. I did that over 20 years ago. I made all my own switches, which was fun to design and build. Had a real nice layout started, but never got around to finishing it. These days there is so much of it that can be computerized. Have you seen the huge layout that is in Germany? We're talking huge, acres of layout. Would love to see it one day, but in Germany...I probably won't.

If your ever in Jersey I'd recommend this place http://www.northlandz.com/ really cool there.

Gonna check that out, but here's the site for Miniatur Wunderland in Germany... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN_oDdGmKyA

Wow that is impressive:eek:

I want to go to see that I love model trains, just never been good with them myself. My train set as a kid was in our basement...which flooded a lot, so my trains don't work that well. Maybe someday I can create something awesome like that but my basement needs to be waterproof first. :D

I loved your link as well, but of course, it was different. Reminds me of a couple of homes here in NC. We have here in Winston Salem the Reynolda House which was the home of RJ Reynolds and family. Quite large and very interesting. Open terraces off the bedrooms where they would put the children's beds in the winter and have them sleep in the cold. Supposed to cure any illness. Then there is the Builtmore. Hard to believe that this mansion was the official home of only three people thought the staff also pretty much lived there. The Builtmore makes Reynolda House look like a tenement. The Jersey layout is something else, but the German layout is the universe. I truly envy those who can have the patience and know how to achieve such success.

I had never heard of that before that is one of the most amazing sites I have seen.

So I'm cruising on the innertube super hi-way looking, learning, getting slightly shocked over prices when I find this:

http://www.providencenorthern.com/

Google maps puts it at 3.1 miles from my home.:)

I emailed them and got a call back last night. I'll be there early this Saturday.

Nice guy, told me to hold off buying anything as there's always a member selling off something. One member owns a hobby shop and offers substancial discounts to fellow members.:D

My wife just rolled her eyes,,,

The wife and i love to travel, we are lucky with having the mountains and the beach within 3 hours of us.

Now that we have our first child on the way its kind of made me want to get into some new hobbies that at some point i'll be able to share with my son. I recently acquired a table saw from my father in law and am chomping at the bit to built something for him. I have a feeling this could be fun stuff.

I'm also a train buff, so I've got plans in my head to build a model railroad.

The railroad will probably be put off a few years until we are in a bigger house and i'll have room to do so.
