Back up car now I guess, he has had a lot of bad luck as the season draws to a close but I think he has improved greatly and am really enjoying watching him lately.....minus the wrecks.....that havent been his doing.

I think he deserves to be in Cup
 
JPM has done well this year, all things considered. Depending on his equipment next year, he may be a contender for the Chase.
 
I've been and will probably continue to be a critic of JPM, but not for his ability, but it is more because of NASCAR and where it's going. If you go by ability, there's no question that JPM has earned his due in the Cup series. My biggest gripe is that he is probably the beginning of a direction that NASCAR wants to go and that is internationally. But that's where my favorite sport is heading so like it or not, his presents is something that is going to continue. But like anything, the longer he's there, the more he becomes part of the series. If he had top equipment, I think he would be a lot more fun to watch.
