Ever had a package left by FedEx or UPS stolen?
Get yourself some of this! Scum bags deserve worse IMHO but this will do for now.

Awesome.

I have a story similar to this. Probably 20-25 years ago, I had an uncle that lived in rural Iowa that had problems with people stealing his firewood. He got fed up with it and hollowed out a few pieces of wood and filled them with gunpowder before recapping the holes. About a week later, he was sitting down with his wife eating dinner and heard a loud boom and a few minutes later, fire trucks were going down the street. He never found out who it was stealing the wood, but it never happened again after that evening.

Unfortunately, nowadays manufacturing any explosive device is likely a felony. We used to make the CO2 bombs until we found out how much trouble we could get in.

It may sound harsh but people coming to your front door stealing your sh!t deserve death.
Or at the very least whatever happens

Just put a nicely wrapped box of trash and food scraps on the porch. :)
I've seen where some have done just that and have set up cameras that have a good shot of who would come up. Sounds like a good idea to me. I know that to me it is hard to understand how they will drop off a new TV or other expensive items and just drive off.

I've been pretty lucky, haven't had any packages stolen from my porch.

Since the twins came along I buy a lot of stuff on line. I have called about not receiving a few items.
If they were stolen from my steps or lost in shipping who knows??
Retailers always made good and I was never asked about the circumstances.

I've never liked packages to be left out at the mailbox or sitting in front of the door but there aren't a lot of options with nobody at home. I've been lucky that I've not had anything taken but I always fear that will happen when I order something on the more expensive side.

Ditto

My son had 2 packages delivered last fall (one was a guitar). UPS delivered them and placed them on his front porch. He got a notification by email that they had been delivered and called and asked if I would go by his home and place them inside his house. When I went to his home there was a Chevy truck parked on the side of the road just out of site from his home with no one in the vehicle.I picked the packages up and placed them in his home and about 2 mins later when I came out I saw the pickup truck speeding off with 2 men inside. I have a feeling they may have saw me driving up the drive and hid behind my sons garage when I arrived. I followed them out and they made a circle around the block before they they decided to get out of town.

Anytime you buy online you can add special notes and have the package dropped at a neighbor's, at the carrier's local store, require a signature, etc.

I try to have items delivered at work if possible.

We are getting to the busy season for these package thieves. Christmas has got to be a huge time for them. I know I will make almost all of my purchases online.

Way back in the 1980s, not long after many public parks started requiring you to pick up your dog's poo, I had a friend who used to collect her dog's and carry it in a plain brown paper bag. She would sit on a bench (with the bag nearby) sometimes to take a rest. One day she had been sitting on the bench, but got up to see what her dog was barking at, and a guy ran up and stole the bag. Must have been disappointed by what he found in it...

So this just happened this week..... Turns out that our local newspaper delivery person/persons, husband and wife, have been robbing locals along their route. Two residences on my road and one on an adjoining road were robbed of firearms and coins. The duo know when the locals are away on vacation. They come back at night, break in, and make away with their haul. We just became aware of this after seeing yesterday's local headlines.

This has got me thinking. I've been looking at one of those home surveillance systems. I'm talking about the DVR/Camera combo. Anyone on here have experience with install one of these? I've got questions that I'd like to ask on the configuration/installation of these. Also on expansion and the like.
