Is Green Bay the best team ever? The season is yet to be played to conclusion but one thing for sure is that the Packers look unbeatable. As for being the best ever, I guess it depends on who you ask and of course, trying to compare anything current to anything from yesteryear will always bring on a debate. Teams that have been labeled the best over the years include Miami and Chicago, but we can't forget San Fran, New England and this years hopeless, Indy. All of those teams have played differing types of games, from all out ground rumble, to what has become known as the west coast offense, to the rough and tumble defense of the Bears. I can say this for myself that the Packer look like one of the top teams ever. Is it the best?

You gotta question having Rodgers still on the field when your up 27 in the 3rd with the playoffs not far off.

They look pretty unbeatable right now, but that defense is way too porous to be considered with the best teams ever. It is hard to compare eras, as the NFL has basically outlawed playing defense this year. I also know that they give up a lot of yards due to playing a prevent type defense when they are up by a lot of points much of the time. But, they still seem to give up a lot of points and I could see that being their achilles heal if they were to play a truly great team.

Who, in your opinion, is a truly great team?

The 1985 Bears is the first team that comes to mind.

These other teams also come to mind, in no particular order

The 1989 or 1994 49ers

Both incredible teams, and just so you know, I hated them with a passion

The 1999 Rams

Everybody remembers them as the "greatest show on turf" because of their offense that averaged over 32 points a game. But, their defense was 4th in the league that year at 15 points a game. Just imagine how many points they would have given up if the Rams offense was on the field for more than 2 minutes at a time.

The 1991 Redskins

Again, not a fan of theirs, but they were pretty dominating.

The 1979 Steelers or one of several other years around that time frame.

As much as it pains me to admit it, those may have even been the best teams of all time. You look at how many hall of famers they had just on defense and then you add in 4 or 5 hall of famers on offense and they were pretty amazing.

The 1995 Cowboys

The Cowboys teams that won like 3 out of 4 championships were pretty dominating as well. Possibly the best was the 1995 Cowboys when they had Deion Sanders basically shutting down half of the field. But, you could make a case for one of the other 2 championships teams they had in that run.

Bucky, it's clear that your bias is showing through. The Packers are no doubt great, but you can't criticize those who have differing opinions. Just look at who BO left out...the '72 Dolphins.

ummm I have not criticized anyone in this post

No you haven't, but you really are questioning their opinions. But that's okay too. Just remember this one thing if you forget any other thing, the 69 Jets beat the Colts for the title and were such underdogs that only idiots picked the jets to win. I was one of two idiots in the barracks that pulled for the jets. And honestly, does winning the title give that team the title of being the best team that year?

Any given Sunday. It's all about matchups -- how many times do great teams lose to bad teams? The Ratbirds are probably the best AFC team right now, and they lost to Jacksonville. The Patriots were one blind refs ****ty call from losing to the Redskins.

Just so you know, I do believe the packers will lose a game this season
