NEWNAN, Ga. (WXIA) - Police in Newnan said a man who discovered a suspicious text on his son's cell phone looked into it further and ended up telling police about his son's marijuana sales.
Brandon Alford of Newnan had taken his son's cell phone as a punishment for an unrelated incident, but got suspicious after seeing several texts on the phone. One of the texts offered "$20 a gram straight from Hawaii," according to authorities.
Police said Alford answered the texts and set up a meeting for the deal. He told police and went with them to the meeting at a local restaurant. Alford received a phone call once he got to the restaurant about the deal. A 16-year-old male was confronted by police at the restaurant. A juvenile report was filed, and the teen was turned over to his mother.
