steve park was being interviewed by PRN radio in the rain delay and park told them that he is going to try to create his own team if he gets sponsorship. Now here's my question. What makes park think anybody is going to sponsor him? He lost the 1 ride and now he lost the 30 ride, What sponser what's to take that kind of risk.

It's become evident that Park will be out of Richard Childress Racing next year unless by some chance miraculous intervention.

Park is a good driver and I want to see him suceed but he's seeing some roadblocks right now.

I doubt he'll be able to put together a Winston Cup team unless a sponsor comes on, but I do think he may spend some time in the Busch Grand National Series, I think Steve is probably talking to some Busch Series teams right now and working on deals.

But Silly Season could prove me wrong, in the coming weeks and months there should be guys being let go from rides and Steve could possibly hitch a ride with another WC team.

I just don't think steve since his bad accident has it anymore, he's in a good ride now, he was in a good ride with the 1. With a good ride in busch he might do well, but if he don't, that might be his career.

I think he should run a small cup Schedule in a car he owns. Im sure he could find a sponser for like 12 races and he could run the tracks he's good at and Daytona because he's obligated to run in the Bud Shootout. Then run the Busch series and build he's confidence back up. He came back to Cup way too early after such a serious injury.

If Cope , Hermi Sadler and Foyt can get sponsership then why not Park.

good point gollum I guess anything is possible, if he did get one I bet he'll run like the guys you just mentioned

Ya know the 1 of DEI and the 30 of RCR dont get as much attention from their team owners as compared to Kevin Harvick, Robby Gordon or Dale Earnhardt Jr. I think that's why Steve Park hasnt been up to speed, he's stuck in crap rides that and the cars qualify him so deep into the pack to the point where he either gets wrecked or blocked in traffic.

I hope Steve can get in a team that focuses all it's emphasis on the car he's in, then he'll rack up wins and top 5s and top 10s.

I'm with Happy on this one... he's right on the money with his message.

When a good driver gets blocked in traffic, they find a way around the block. Races are long enough a driver with ability can get around traffic. If they can't, they don't belong in the series. As for being wrecked, Steve has had his share, and he has caused his share.

As far as thinking Park was stuck in crap rides with both DEI and RCR, that is a cheap shot at those two organizations.

Steve Park was released from DEI for a reason. Not because they gave him a crap ride. His performance was not the best and and has not been since his accident. This year he posted 1 top ten and 2 top twenty finishes for DEI before being released. Average finish was 26.5.

Since joining RCR, his record is 1 top five, 2 top ten's and 4 top twenty finishes. Average 25.8.

When a car is strong enough to finish 8th at New Hampshire and 5th at Michigan, and 15th at Indy, it ain't the equipment. This is not indicative of a blind squirrel finding the proverbial acorn.

A person doesn't need to be a fan of either RCR or DEI to see Park is not consistent. People don't get let go from rides when the equipment is good and the finishes poor. There is usually another reason. The reason might be anything from poor communication to attitude, but mostly lies in driver performance. The worse thing that could have happened to Steve Park was to have two top drawer teams release him. This is a pretty solid indicator there is nothing wrong with the equipment and sends a strong signal the problem with team performance lies elsewhere.

Well, talking about his on team. I would think and I don't know for sure, but don't you have to have some money of your own and I would think that Park is not that wealthy. If anybody can have their own teams I would think that Rudd, Sterlin, Martin, and a few others would have already done that. Maybe some one can answer this that knows how the game is played..

very well put whizzer, I'm with you on that one, don't get me wrong I like park and I wish he could run better.
