Ya know the 1 of DEI and the 30 of RCR dont get as much attention from their team owners as compared to Kevin Harvick, Robby Gordon or Dale Earnhardt Jr. I think that's why Steve Park hasnt been up to speed, he's stuck in crap rides that and the cars qualify him so deep into the pack to the point where he either gets wrecked or blocked in traffic.
I hope Steve can get in a team that focuses all it's emphasis on the car he's in, then he'll rack up wins and top 5s and top 10s.
When a good driver gets blocked in traffic, they find a way around the block. Races are long enough a driver with ability can get around traffic. If they can't, they don't belong in the series. As for being wrecked, Steve has had his share, and he has caused his share.
As far as thinking Park was stuck in crap rides with both DEI and RCR, that is a cheap shot at those two organizations.
Steve Park was released from DEI for a reason. Not because they gave him a crap ride. His performance was not the best and and has not been since his accident. This year he posted 1 top ten and 2 top twenty finishes for DEI before being released. Average finish was 26.5.
Since joining RCR, his record is 1 top five, 2 top ten's and 4 top twenty finishes. Average 25.8.
When a car is strong enough to finish 8th at New Hampshire and 5th at Michigan, and 15th at Indy, it ain't the equipment. This is not indicative of a blind squirrel finding the proverbial acorn.
A person doesn't need to be a fan of either RCR or DEI to see Park is not consistent. People don't get let go from rides when the equipment is good and the finishes poor. There is usually another reason. The reason might be anything from poor communication to attitude, but mostly lies in driver performance. The worse thing that could have happened to Steve Park was to have two top drawer teams release him. This is a pretty solid indicator there is nothing wrong with the equipment and sends a strong signal the problem with team performance lies elsewhere.
