Parker and BAM in 2003? hearing that #49 BAM Racing is talking to several drivers for next season but Hank Parker Jr. has apparently moved near the top of the list for a full-time ride with the team next season. There is a possibility Parker might drive one or two Winston Cup races for BAM this year too.(9-20-2002

That would be the biggest mistake of Hank's career. BAM racing is a joke. Their stuff doesn't seem to run that well. Five or is it six drivers can't be wrong. The owners seem to think that WC is some sort of a weekend hobby. They need to get their act together, do the math and stop fooling around. Besides, don't they still have Shawna, or is she history, too:uhmnotsur

Big mistake for Hank!:( He'd be much better off staying in BGN than going with BAM........heck, he'd be better off going into an AJ car.:(

Well here I go again.....Kevin was 40th quick in qualifying .53 secs off the pole in basically an unsponored car. Not everybody out there has the big bucks to toss a decent engine in a car. 15 G's is what it cost for your basic Weekly Racing Series engine and I seriously doubt the 49 has anything much better.

Did you know the next IRL Chevy V8 is going to lease.....that's lease mind you....for 125's per race? Wonder what it cost to actually buy one.

Hank is definately talented, but BAM racing equipment is horrible. If anything he should drive for Petty.

What are you saying 71? BAM isn't the reason the team does poorly? How many drivers have they had this season and none of them (some are darned good drivers) have done worth a crap!! I'm sure they were getting some pretty good input from Ron Hornaday and Derrick Cope.......looks to me like someone in BAM isn't listening. Sponsors come with performance.......and the performance just isn't there. If it were just Shawna we could put a lot off on her, but that just isn't the case. It's pretty late in the season for a good sponsor now since everyone is looking to next year so they have a rough row to hoe for sure........but other teams get started and make it. Why can't BAM do it? I think it's like what nascarwoman said......they are treating the team as a weekend hobby. Lease one of those 125 g engines and don't listen to the experts you hire and all you do is finish poorly (if at all) with a damned expensive engine in a car. Money is not the problem........it's management or lackadaisical attitude or hardheadedness. The team isn't destained for any future in Winston Cup........probably not in any NASCAR series.

What I'm saying is that life at the back of the pack for a start up team with no sponsorship is a dern hard way to go. I seriously doubt it's a "hobby" for them.

Other teams get started and make it????? Carl Long in Rick Ware's cars has only made 9 races in 3 years. Best qualifying effort was a 20th.

Right now there are 78 cars with 60 or 70 owners registered with nascar Winston Cup. Nine of those teams (not including 3rd and 4th cars on multi-cars teams) have yet to even start a Cup race and 11 teams have only started one Cup race.

20 teams on the fringe with 11 starts between them. Six other teams have only started 2 races, one team has only started 3 races, and five teams have started 4. The 49 car has made 11 races this year including today.

I'ld say they ain't doing half bad.

Whoops, what I meant is that there are 78 cars listed on this years owner points chart. Have no idea how many cars are registered. The listing is at nascar.com

Perhaps the reason that Hank has moved near the top of the list is that he might have some sponsorships tagging along. Hank has become very popular not only with GNC but also several of the major manufacturers that GNC does business with. He does a large number of PR appearances and has become quite popular with the "Healthy" crowd.
I'm sure that birthday gift has turned out to be way more expensive than anyone in that family ever imagined. I think they must be making some progress since the last couple times the car was in they were able to run with the pack considerably longer. It helps that they did not have a driver behind the wheel that just wanted some seat time but at the same time the weaknesses that Hornaday pointed out a couple months ago did not seem to be affecting Cope.
I dont think it would be the best move for Hank but it is possible that it may be a win-win for both parties.

On a Carl Long note, Carl has not made a race yet for Rick Ware racing. I remember him running the 89 in a few races this past couple years but I think the Rick Ware team is the team he is with now in the 51? (not sure that number is right) Rick has successfully fielded Trucks in CTS but apparently is struggling worse than BAM with the car setups.

Yer right Kel. As I recall, Carl ran independent till he teamed up with Rick. Now there's a guy that could stand a chance in RCR truck.

UPDATE: #36 BGN driver Hank Parker Jr. said he is exploring all his options for next season, which include moving up to Winston Cup and remaining with his current team. Parker, 27, is in the final year of his contract with Team Jesel and sponsor GNC hasn't decided whether to return next season. He has two series wins, including a victory this year at Pikes Peak. "Everything is really up in the air. I'm waiting to see what GNC is going to do. I'd love to go Cup racing, but I'm waiting on the right opportunity," Parker said. "I really wish I knew what I was doing because it's getting kind of late and it's getting kind of nerve-racking for me." BAM Racing contacted Parker about driving a race this season, but Parker declined because the team was out of tests and he wanted to test the car first. Several rides remain open in Cup, including the #25 with Hendrick Motorsports, #36 with MB2 Motorsports and #49 BAM Racing.(ThatsRacin.com)(9-21-2002)

Good to hear Hank is taking his time..........glad he has declined BAM for this year. Hope he doesn't jump in WC without a good ride......not a bad ride like BAM! I'd be better off finding a ride in BGN next year over moving to Cup in a poorly managed and financed team. And BAM is a poorly managed and finance team.:(

im curious what they pay there drivers as salary like how much per race, has to be something for 5 or 6 drivers to try
