The Cal Wells move to Pontiac has more implications.
If Ford took the money earmarked for the Wells operation and put it in the pot to make the Rudd/Woods deal possible, what about the Penske deal.
Penske's contract with Ford is in its final year. Rumors have had Roger moving to Pontiac but Poncho probably never had the money to make it happen and now the the Wells deal is done that if more true than ever.
Latest has Roger moving to Dodge, but reportedly Penske is looking for about 20 million and it is unclear if the Mopar guys have that many bucks left to spend either.
Ford could have moved whatever money they had budgeted for the Tide team to the Penske camp, but it doesn't appear that they did.
So, either Ford has the Penske deal in hand or is convinced that Dodge can't match what was already on the table, or is willing to risk the loss of the operation to Dodge.
