It doesn't shock me. Heck it doesn't even surprise me and that in and of itself is a shame. :(

People all over the country rushed to try to turn a profit off of the death of Pat Tillman. Pat Tillman as many of you know was a true american hero. He turned down a $3.6 million contract to continue his NFL carrer to join the war on terror. That desision cost him his life last week.

He was no more or less important than any of the other unknown men and women who have given their lives in defense of our freedom. But, he gave a name and a face to the lives lost half a world away. He was a man who did what he felt he should do regardless of the consequences. He refused countless requests for interviews as he chose to not place himself above the other men he served with. He may not have wanted honor or attention, but he certainly deserved all he could get.

I thought it would be nice to have a Pat Tillman jersey so I did an ebay search. There were 422 items up for sale that had his name in them. If I thought it were other people like myself desiring a way to honor a fallen hero it would be different. But, it seems pretty obvious that there are many who planned for this day to come and have capitalized on it in a very big way.

As I said, it doesn't surprise me. But, I wish it did.

There is a company in Dallas (I think) that had an orginal, game-worn jersey of Tillman's. The company specializes in cutting 1 inch squares and putting them on trading cards.

The company decided to send the jersey to the family. So not everyone is out for the almighty dollar.

Remember the amount of stuff that appeared on eBay after DE's death. The rats always come out of the woodwork.

TRL, the man that owns the company (yes it is in Dallas) is going to personally deliver the jersey to Tillman's family. I was trying to find something on the story that they ran on the local news the other night about this, but I can't find it. It was really a very good story. :)

I'd LIKE to think that there are more honorable people than not. Unfortunately, most of what one hears or sees on the news is negative.
I'm so glad to hear that the man in TX is a man of honor and isn't trying to profit from other's loss.

Thats because good news doesn't sell. <_<

Heartless people do that. Doesn't matter if it is Tillman, Princess Di, or Dale Earnhardt they will try to make a fast buck.

not olny is it famous ppl, but about 2 years ago a kid at my school was killed in a car crash, well he raced 4 wheelers and after he did ppl started selling stickers with his name and # on them.

If i die tonight, im sure a few ppl at school might have something on there binders, ect....but i dont think anyone will have my 53 on there car, not that i care. when im gone im gone just what to go in peace.
