Some may think this good news, some may think this bad news. And this season, it might not even be news!!

Patree-Jones announcement on tap?

Andy Petree, in discussion for most of the year to partner with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, said he should know his plans for 2003 by next week.

"I'll have something to talk about at Darlington next week if all goes as planned," he said.

Jones is expected to buy a portion of Petree's team and the duo has reportedly been shopping for drivers. Bobby Hamilton currently drives for Petree, but both parties have said they are splitting at the end of the season.

Petree admitted he tried to get Rudd, but never really had a chance even though he "felt like I had a lot to offer."

Petree is a master of fielding cars on a limited sponsor budget, so teaming with Jones would be a major financial boon for him. He currently gets by on a budget under $10 million, while most teams are getting upward of $15 million from their primary sponsors.

"I wish I wasn't the poster child for how to run a race team on a shoestring budget," he said.
