So, Petty Enterprises is making an announcement on Friday...probably about the 43 car...I would wager a guess that Bobby Labonte will end up there...but, I would wager my life on whosoever gets the ride to say something about the opportunity to drive the LEGENDARY #43...anyone with me on this one? I'd like to see someone get in that damn car and make it legendary again.

UPDATE: On Friday, November 10th at Phoenix International Raceway, Petty Enterprises will announce that Nextel Cup champion, Bobby Labonte, will drive the #43 Cheerios / Betty Crocker Dodge in 2006. Labonte won the NEXTEL Cup championship in 2000 driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, has 21 career NEXTEL Cup victories and claimed the NASCAR Busch Series Championship in 1991. Labonte started racing quarter midgets at the age of five in his hometown of Corpus Christi, TX. His brother is NASCAR champion Terry Labonte.(11-10-2005)

I thought today was the 11th. :)

It is... well no surprise there, figured that was where he was going.

This is good news for Bobby. He will be Pettys premier driver. Bobby got the shaft on equipment & personnel at Gibbs for the last four years. He deserves better & will now get the best Petty has to offer. I see him taking the 43 back to victory lane in '06.

Wishing both Bobby and Team Petty the absolute best in this effort.
If King Richard will open the purse strings and put some money into solid engineering, horsepower and build a cohesive first quality team, PEI might return to the days of glory with a win or two each year. Just for openers.

In concert with Robbie Loomis becoming part of PEI management now leaving Kyle to concentrate on his efforts with Victory Junction Camp, and driving, everyone might benefit to a greater degree.
