Petty Charity Ride Gearing Up
The Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America announced today the ride route for the 2006 cross-country motorcycle ride. NASCAR driver Kyle Petty will lead the motorcycle experience, joined by Chick-fil-A President and Chief Operating Officer Dan Cathy, as more than 200 participants, including NASCAR celebrities, ride sponsors and motorcycle enthusiasts, travel more than 3,000 miles in nine days. The group will cross the Pacific Northwest through the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and the fields of Kansas as they travel towards their final destination, the Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, N.C.

Now in its 12th year, the Charity Ride has included more than 5,000 riders who have logged more than 41,000 miles and donated more than $8 million. Proceeds of the ride benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp, as well as select other children’s charities. Petty and his wife, Pattie, founded the Victory Junction Gang Camp, which is dedicated to enriching the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun and empowering, in a safe and medically sound environment.

“The Charity Ride has become a premier event in the lives of the riders, sponsors and fans, as well as the lives of the children who benefit from the ride,” said Petty. “I am amazed by the growing generosity and enthusiasm demonstrated each year as we cross different sections of the country. Those fans that come out and donate money along the way give us the energy and motivation to keep riding.”

The 2006 Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride kicks off in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho on July 22 and will make overnight stops in Many Glacier, Mo; Butte, Mo.; Sheridan, Wyo; Boulder, Colo.; Salina, Kan.; Springfield, Ill.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Asheville, N.C.; and concludes on July 30 when riders will be welcomed into the camp in Randleman, N.C. by campers visiting during the week designed for children with neurological and genetic disorders. Fuel and overnight ride stops will be marked by events and activities for fans, supporters and riders. This year, fans will enjoy parades through many cities, including Boulder’s historic district and Sheridan.

“Each year the Charity Ride increases awareness of and support for the Victory Junction Gang Camp, which provides memorable camping experiences for children with chronic and life threatening illnesses,” said Chick-fil-A President and Chief Operating Officer Dan Cathy. “We at Chick-fil-A are very proud to take part in a program that has such a positive influence on young people.”

The Small Change. Big Impact. program will act as a vehicle to collect coins as the Charity Ride crosses the nation, and the total collected will be donated to the Camp and other children’s charities at the conclusion of the Ride. The campaign will demonstrate that even quarters add up to make dollars, hundreds and thousands of dollars, that can help children across the nation.

Sponsors of the 2006 ride include title sponsor Chick-fil-A, as well as Pilot Travel Centers, SunTrust, Victory Motorcycles, Sunoco and Coca-Cola. To learn more about the 2006 Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America, visit our Web site at (www.chickfilakylepettycharityride.com)
