TNT's Kyle Petty raced Sunday in the Toyota/Save Mart 350 even as he served an on-air analyst. When he got in an accident on the first lap that also involved Matt Kenseth and Marc Goossens, viewers saw a replay in which the driver/analyst seemed to yell out an expletive — although TNT, during the race, said it wasn't sure it came from Petty rather than from mikes in other drivers' cars. But Petty wants it clear it was his profanity: "I'm sorry it got as far as everyone's living room. But when an incident happens that early in the race and it's unexpected, what I said pretty much described it."(USA Today)(6-29-2007)

I find it interesting that no one is screaming to the FCC on this one based on some of the recent grass roots movements.

What a stand up man. I would have never admitted to it, know NASCAR is going to fine me. Honesty IS the best policy.

My understanding it was caught on the reply. (not live) That wouldn't be Kyle's fault, I would think. Wouldn't that be whoever does the replay's? Does anyone know for sure if it was replay or not?

Yep the replay and the complete word didn't get out. It appeared to me that the "bleeper" only got the last 1/2 of the word. Kinda like Fuu was all I heard.. Then the guys in the booth, who must have heard the whole word, started apologizing.

Iget so sick of hearing about these slips of the tongue. Everyday most of you folks out there cuss a time or two. Where's AJ Foyt when you need him.

First off Kat, you're living in another world. Unfortunately, it's the current world and it appears that most people have a problem with this, even though they hear this time and time again, in person, on TV (yes, it happens there as well), in the movies and just about everywhere else. I'm not going to sit here and condone what Kyle did, nor will I excuse it as a faux pax that should have been caught. The one thing that is pertinent here is that the FCC has said that this type of language will not be tollerated, period. Well, I haven't heard anything that the FCC has threatened TNT.

Fortunately or unfortunately, modern technology has allowed us to get right into the action as it happens. We've seen this time and time again mostly when it comes to that actions of the police. The unfortunately part comes well before what we see, and that's really the crime in all of this. Kyle knows this and has owned up to what he did, saving a bunch of embarassing moments from the TNT crowd. While TNT was trying to cover their ass, Kyle was admiting to something that isn't unusual at all in this sport, nor most of the rest of life.

We can always be Monday morning quarterbacks and spout sayings like, "think before you speak", but unless you've been there, or at the very least, think about what is going on, I think it's a bit much to criticize Kyle.

No kidding , it is like the end of the world when a swear word gets out on TV. Well if you watch late night TV you will see and hear a lot worse, so what the hell is the big deal. Everyone cusses, i just don't get it, i'm not a puritian that is for sure and i try to watch my language around little kids, but when i'm around adults it is part of everyday language. I say get over it and get on with it.!!!!;)

I don't get involved in political debates as they are, IMO, a no-win situation but you guys do realize where you headed, right?

But, isn't that the point that during the day the TV stations can't be assured that only adults are watching whereas late night TV little kids should be in bed. And, yeah I know some aren't but we have to go on the assumption that parents actually give a damn and know how to parent.

Which is also my point of what posters say. Since the written word is around at all times what you type here late at night is still available during the little kid's hour.
And, no I'm not directing this at you but your statement seems to be indicative as to how some posters feel. If you were just talking to me then no it wouldn't matter. But, when you type it in an open forum everyone sees it.

What i mean is big deal it slipped out. Should it be broadcast on national or cable tv in the middle of day...obviously not. I just think people are getting their underwear in a bunch over nothing...get over it already.

Oh I've got nothing to get over. My only other comment on this thread was to answer that it was on the replay...

was'nt no bleepin on my tv, I had to replay it myself just to see who it was that said it and I heard it plain as day from the f to the k
