Petty Not Changing Engine Builders

Kyle Petty said Friday he had no intention of removing Mike Ege Racing Engines as the engine builder for Petty Enterprises, despite his scathing statements last week at Daytona. Petty said he went public with his criticism of Ege because private efforts to get Ege's attention went unheeded. Petty said Ege's company responded by working 72 straight hours to bring better engines to Chicago. Petty practiced well, posting the 20th-best speed. But he and Fittipaldi still needed provisionals to make the field.

Maybe Kyle likes running around in circles at the back of the field.

I think the drivers that Petty Enterprise has is a bigger problem than thier engines.

i agree with 24and12fan, why fix the engines if its the drivers who aren't making it happen? although i bet the engines could be better.

I'd like to put a good driver into a Petty ride and see what happens to them, they'll fail. Kyle Petty and Christian Fittipaldi are good drivers stuck in bad crummy rides with terrible equipment. All that Kyle needs to do is kick that engine builder out and get in a new guy and they'll be back headin to improvement in no time.

I hope in the next couple weeks the work will start to pay off and at least get both cars in the show on time most of the races! I think the main problem is the motors but there is other things wrong at PE right now. I don't think its the drivers I think it might be the Crew Chiefs at least for the 43 anyways. Steven Lang and Kyle sem to work well together. Thats why I think Steven should become the GM at PE and let Kyle focus on more of the driving. Then get a new young guy as the CC and see what happens

More performances like the last few weekends and I bet he'll reconsider. :dual9mm:

I thought that Briggs and Stratton where the engine builders for P.E. :p
