Philip Seymore Hoffman

If you haven't seen his performance in "Charlie Wilson's War", I would highly recommend it.

I enjoyed his role in that movie several times, one of my favorites. I think a young James Garner would also have been an excellent Charlie Wilson.

I was shocked when I found out.

RIP, Gone too soon.

Why do these "entertainment" shows bring in Dr Phil whenever a celeb dies or has issues? What qualifications does he have?

Dr Phil or Dr Drew? I know CNN brings in Dr Drew when this happens because he is known as an addiction specialist. Although I don't think he has helped anyone really.

I think it's a joke that they've arrested 4 people as a result of PSH's overdose. The only difference between other herion addicts and Hoffman is that Hoffman was an actor.

One "news" station said he may have died from a "bad batch" of heroin. As opposed to the good safe heroin:rolleyes:
Exactly. We've quickly reached the predictable "how could this have possibly happened?" stage. He was a drug addict. He used very dangerous, uncontrolled substances that he had no way of knowing where they came from or what they contained. Yet, he put these substances in his body, because the reward outweighed the risk in his mind. He gambled with his life just like every one of us who has ever done illegal drugs has done at various times. Unfortunately, he lost the bet this time. By the grace of God, I've never lost that bet. I quit using years ago. Hopefully, I never start up again. If I do, hopefully, I never have to pay the ultimate price for that decision. This is not to say that I don't feel bad for him and more importantly his family and friends he left behind. I'm just saying that it is kind of stupid to ask why. The better question is why does this happen so often to everyday people and nobody cares until it's a "celebrity"?.

This country is a celebrity based society. It's why more people vote for American Idol/Dancing With The Stars than for political elections.
