Five drivers, including Johnson, just got done with a Goodyear tire test at the newly resurfaced & reconfigured PIR. To be fair though those other four drivers were Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart participated in the test. IMO Stewart is the only one that needed the practice there. :D I wonder how much of an advantage this could be for that track come Chase time?

Later, in October, a test for all drivers/teams will take place so maybe it's all a wash but I still can't help but think these five have a 'one up' on everyone else.

Honorable mention - Kurt Busch hit the wall and had to go to a backup test car.

Full story here.

Sounds like maybe Kurt Busch need the practice too! lol

It will give those guys a little bit of a head start. But the track will change some once 43+ cars are on it for practice.

Can't really blame KURT for hitting the wall if he had a tire blow. But if he felt it going down, as he said, why didn't he stop? I dunno...

Interesting little article, though. I really like PIR. I'll be anxious to see how it races. Hell, I might even venture out there and take a seat on Rattlesnake Hill! I was at the track some years ago and thought that that would be a cool spot from which to watch a race.

It's been a good track for Smoke, and a good track for JJ and Pee Wee too!
