Gonna run a softer tire with more grip but also will wear substantially more. Add in the new aero and smaller spoiler and we are talking a completely different type of race then the last couple of years. Should be fun

They are using traction compound also in different spots than the last time. Somebody will hit the setup. Going to be tough as hell on the rookies, they can't test on the track before hand and they get very little practice.

Sounds perfect.

Phoenix Raceway will have the PJ1 traction compound again applied to the track for next month’s races. That event marks the debut of the short track package for Cup that is intended to tighten the racing.

The traction compound will be applied in the corners but will be applied more along the driving line. Last fall, the traction compound was applied close to the wall. It will not be as high this time in the turns.

More than you would ever want to know about TrackBite:
Here’s the key: TrackBite doesn’t stick the tires to the track better: It encourages rubber from tires (those on the race car or those being dragged) to stick to the track better, which makes the track rubber up faster and stay rubbered up longer.

Sounds like they want to turn this race into old-school Bristol. Everyone is going to hug the bottom for the traction compound, everyone's cars will handle like crap after 10 laps, and it will take using the bumper in order to pass anyone. I'm actually excited for this race and I probably hate the current car package more than anyone
