Pick this weeks RF favorite quote, week ending 6/22/14.

The nominees are posted below, simply pick your favorite.

I've never attended a race that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. The hype, the tailgating, the camaraderie. I always feel like I've gotten my money's worth. Plus, lately, it involves time with family. You can't put a price on that.

In a matter of hours Patrick will attempt to improve her own record of 29th in today’s 110 lap cup event. Last year’s race proved to be a historic day. As well as her record setting finish, Patrick brought out a full course ServiceMaster Clean caution when she spun in turn ten. The move made her the first woman to lose it on Sonoma’s twists and turns in NASCAR’s cup competition. She also claimed title of the first woman to regain a lost lap in a cup event at Sonoma via the free pass rule a few laps later.

Patrick begins the day at Sonoma starting 11th in the 43 car field with experience gained on the course from her IRL days. In that series, Patrick recorded a 5th place finish in the ’08 event that helped bolster her life time average finish to 13.1 on the Northern California facility. Those IRL/Sonoma events featured an average of 21 cars competing in grueling 70/80 lap contests during her stellar open wheel career.

Her unique talent and the long, relatively slow course with limited places to pass will again favor Patrick’s chances of finishing on the lead lap. Should she reach that plateau, the race would be her second in a row. She has accomplished consecutive lead lap finishes once before in the ’14 season, the only woman to do.
