How about that. Burress pleads guilty so that he will only get two years in the slammer instead of 3 1/2.

Seems to me that the NFL is now trying to become the new NBA. Give a kid millions from the hood and they think they can do anything without consequences. How sad.

This is why I don't like the NFL. Not that I have a problem with the sport itself, but I don't like the way it's managed and I especially don't like the people playing it.

It's hard to get behind a sport when the "stars" and being arrested for butchering dogs, and killing people. We're just a couple steps away from players flashing gang signs after TDs. Brings a whole new meaning to "Gridiron Gang."

Rome is burning, and Roger Goodell is still playing the violin.

Your guys' comments seem a little harsh. Of course there are a lot of thugs playing pro football. What kind of guys would you expect to play a game where violence is such a vital part of it?

That being said, I think Goddell is doing a pretty good job of addressing the situation. He is suspending people, and so far his suspensions seem to be pretty fair and seem to be having the desired effect. These guys know that there are consequences for their actions now. Guys like Plaxico, Donte Stallworth and the like are just apparently too stupid to heed the warnings. You can't blame the entire league, or the commissioner for the actions of a few guys. You can only look at what he doesn when they screw up. His predecessor, Paul Tagliabue (sp?) simply burried his head in the sand and let it get to the point where these guys felt that they could do anything. That certainly doesn't seem to be the what Goddell is doing.

As for Plaxico getting two years in the slammer, that seems about right. He could have killed somebody. Goddell sid that he will not face further suspension when he gets out of prison, as he will already have missed two years of football. I can understand that too. He will be 36 years old when he gets out. He will be back in the NFL, I am certain of that. But, hopefully he will be a little smarter. Then again, it's not like he is going to college for two years.

I agree with BO. Goddell is doing a good job. Maybe the sport is getting cleaned up because the players entering aren't the same class of people back in the day. But, he's not rolling over and letting them have their way.

As to Plaxico, he shot himself. He goes to jail. He misses 2 years of pay checks. Hopefully he learned something. If not maybe he can still be an example to the younger guys in HS and college of what not to do.

One problem is the messages being sent by some college coaches. There are those who believe winning is everything and other coaches believe in making them good citizens. One set of players goes onto the NFL with an entitlement attitude while the other often times settles for doing something good for their community.

agree with bo and bp. i'm actually surprised plax got as long as he did. goddel is far better than tagliabue which leads me to wonder how long he will keep his job.

Good riddence, Plax is a moran. At least Michael Vick did something worthy of going to jail for. Plax shot himself in the leg. He needs to be put in a padded room and fed Pudding pops.
