Bashing? I just don't get it, and it amazes me when people get upset by what they call bashing.

The way I see it, NASCAR (and all sports) thrive on people getting attached to on driver or another. They also thrive (possibly more) when people absolutely despise a driver.

Every fan is different, and each has their own set of values when it comes to choosing a driver. That's the beauty of it. We all get to express how we feel about one guy or another, and anyone is free to challenge that opinion.

I've been a Brad fan for over 4 years, and many people absolutely hated him. They had a lot of accusations and bad things to say about him, but they could rarely give solid reasons for how they felt. That's OK, because it's all part of the all important 'water cooler' element of being a sport fan.

The way I look at it is when Brad starts giving a flying fart about what people say about me, I'll start getting upset about what people say about him.

Be a fan of your driver. Just remember, you're not married to him / her, so there's no reason to get too emotionally involved to the point of getting angry over some anti-fan rants. I can't understand people staying away from a chat site because not enough people like their driver and criticize him. Get into it. Fire back. Make some wise cracks. Have some fun.

In the great scheme of things, sports don't mean sheet.

Look at how many threads are STARTER about Kyle and Kurt...Maybe we sholuld have a sticky for them:rolleyes:

Good idea. I think each forum should have it's own 'have at it' sticky thread where you can trash talk to your hearts content, as long as you keep it in that thread. Those who want to play can stay. If trash talk isn't your thing, it's easier to avoid. I'm not talking about all out personal attacks on each other, but public figures are fair game, and some humerous shots at your apponent should be tolerated.

Rule #1 one: No running off crying to Mama. :D

I don't have a problem with people talking bad about the drivers I like. Sometimes I'll talk just as bad about them as anybody else does.

If it's not against the site rules, then I don't see the problem

I come across things on the internet every day which I don't like and simply move on.

But, if someone wants to spend their time defending another person who doesn't even know they exist, that's their perogative.

Yup, what he said. Should be almost free-game, as long as it's in the rules. Besides, it happens in all sports, and (almost) all forums. Without it, the internet would be much more boring.

Or...or....If someone wants to spend their time Bashing another person who doesn't even know they exist, that's their perogative too:p

This is a good thread Fender. I feel that if a driver doesn't get bashed once in a while, then they are probably are not very popular anyway. I never get upset if someone bashes a driver that I like, because as a fan, I do not get that attached to them in the first place. But if you really think about it, most of the time the one getting bashed, probably has a much better life then the one doing the bashing anyway, and as Bucky said, they don't even know that the basher exists.:)

I think bashing is more about feelings, then truth. I have seen drivers and fans get bashed on a lot of forums that had nothing to do with the truth. But I do agree with Fender, it is fun to figure out what is true.

Nothing wrong with driver bashing. It just always seems to lead to people taking personal shots at other posters or at times personal threats and that's just wrong.

Driver Bashing is part of racing also has been, all the way from local short track drivers to the big boys it's part of the Fun at the track, by the water cooler or on a forum.
Trash talking is Fun too as long as it dosent get personal or vulgar.

I'll admit I pick on people just funnin and they don't relize it and get PO'd. My sincere apologizes to those of you who are candy azz whiners! ;)

But when there are 2 or 3 hater threads about your driver, it does get old.

Yea it kinda bites when everone wants to jump on the Hate Train, been there :(
Personaly I hope Kurt gets his demons under control this year and runs well for Finch, guys got a Ton of Talent it's just his Social and media skills that are lacking.

When I'm not in the mood for it, I keep scrolling. Some people constantly troll, which means responding is giving them exactly what they want. That said, even trolling threads can be fun.

I think that fans of the sport should have a tiny bit of respect for those who participate in it . If we don't ,who will ? I also think that it is not necessary to carry on the venum to disrespect their wives/girlfriends and their sponsors. Basically they are innocent bystanders .

The thing I like best about RF ... you can express your feelings and not have to worry about being shut out or run off because you don't like someone's driver.

But ... I don't really care for driver bashing ... I think some people can take it too far.

IMO!

I agree FF ... I just keep my mouth shut and read whatever anyone has to say.

Unless of course it makes them go on a tear at the end of the season that worked well for my guy last year.

i'm not a fan of constant bashing - usually it ends up with name-calling, often untruths being slung, etc. i have enough crap going on in my life that i don't really enjoy coming to a site and have to weed through a ton of crap about my driver(s) which has gotten mean and nasty. i was happy when i found this site because i was sick of a site i was on which while dedicated to my driver, the trash talking of other drivers really made me uncomfortable, esp. if i liked them.

if a driver has done something recently which has kicked off a conversation, all sides expressed, that's fine with me. for example - when the "jeffs" got into their "slap fight" in Texas, i thought some of the comments were pretty funny. i have a good sense of humor and don't mind good-natured teasing at all. what i really get sick of is the school-yard taunts of - he sucks! he's on roids! he's gay....blah blah blah. i mean at least use some imaginaton. ;)

That was the way it was in the beginning. Many people were run off or banned because they liked Junior. I was one of them so you know one of my favorites.

It doesn't help matters when a thread/conversation doesn't in anyway include any one certain driver yet their defenders feel the need to interject them into a discussion and then bawl about the driver being bashed

The irony is that its almost always a driver who can't stand to not have the spotlight on themselves.

Life sure can be kooky at times :)

Nothing wrong with Junior ... hoping to see him in VL this season!

This thread is a lot like the anti bullying campaign they had at the local middle school . Every one including the bullys signed on .But nothing changed.

I not sure anyone signed on to anything, and I wasn't out to change anything. Lots of different and interesting points of view were given on the subject, so thanks to everyone that took the time to post.

I like sports banter, and I never take it seriously, especially on the net. Fire back or scroll away, it depends on the mood I'm in.
