Is Pocono on the way out? I have heard a few people grumbling about the track. Has anyone got any info on the state of the track, where it stands on the circuit now?

It's one of the most popular races. It usually sells out, or comes close to it. And the racing at Pocono is still better than Fontana and Texas (which still have 2 dates each:rolleyes:).

Why would NASCAR drop Pocono?

Boring race. Maybe Pocono, Califorina and Texas should all lost a date. 1 each is enough for those boring places . Theres a lot of tracks that have way better racing than those places, they should get a shot on the cup schedule. But it seems like the cup series schedule never changes, it is so boring.

I wish Auto Club Speedway would get burned down by a fire and Texas Motor Speedway would get blown away in a tornado. Those two tracks are the reason Rockingham and North Wilkesboro closed down.

But Pocono... boring? Did you see either of the 2000 races? 2002? 1994? Last year, the Pocono races were outstanding. There have been more exciting races and finishes at Pocono in the last 10 years than California and Texas combined.

And, unlike California and Atlanta, Pocono sells most of their tickets.

Andy, you wont find many people that agree with you that Pocono isn't pretty dull most of the time. Even the drivers call it a boring race.

I've been to 3 Pocono cup races, they were boring. Sticking up for Pocono because its one of the closer ones to you?

I gotta disagree. Pocono is a great track and most dirvers think it is very challenging.

I agree with toledo...boooring. And it seem like both of the Pocono races are too close together. They're almost 2 month apart this year, but it seem in the past it felt like only 3 or 4 weeks between the two.

Andy this time I agree with you.
I like the layout of the track, not a cookie cutter, with three completly different corners making for a real challange for drivers.

They were closer together a couple of years ago. I think that was before the new ESPN tv deal started.

The to close together is weather related, those mountains get cold early and stay cold longer but they could counter the "boring" and too close together by making them; or at least one of them shorter.

They could make the races 200 miles and the drivers will still drive around until 20 to go.

I think Pocono's great for what it's worth. When TNT and ESPN show us the races, and actually show us the side-by-side racing, it's much better. And then all the strategy that plays out -- and now double-file restarts. The restarts at Pocono will be incredible. :growl:

Rockingham was the boring race. I was there for 3 cup races over the years and all of them were boring.

No need to complain about that now. All of you in the midwest and left coast got your races.

I went to the ARCA race at Rockingham in April -- and the racing was fantastic.

5 laps to go, and Kez is closing down on Busch. But, he just doesn't have time.

If a caution comes out, whole different story.

Hey squirt what makes you think I am from the midwest or left coast? Just so happens you are wrong. I am a TN hillbilly and proud of it. Have never lived in another state....
