I think Pocono is one of the most under rated tracks in NASCAR. It is challenging, has three distinct turns and the front straight is the longest in NASCAR. I wouldn't particulary care to see a race from the stands there, but it is a nice break from your run of the mill 1.5 mile tri oval.

Very true it is very challenging to play on Nascar Thunder for X-Box...lol. The three corners are really all different, # 3 is tough if you don't get low you are in big trouble and 4 and 5 are so flat you have to use tons of brake.

I like Pocono, it's like a drag-race all around th track!

It's also one of the worst race tracks to go to. Poor visibility in the stands, poor security, and atrocious traffic.

Not the best track to be a spectator at though.

especially when dale jr, steve park and rusty are side by side.

I'm with racerx11. A challenging track for the drivers. Three distinctively different turns, long straights, and fast speeds.:) I've heard the track is horrible for the spectators, but I watch it on TV which covers the race as good as any other track. Most drivers say Pocono is a combination of an oval and a road course. Wonder why so many here hate that track but so many here love road courses?:)

Just one of the many tracks that I fall asleep during. Kinda sad.

I love that track as well. The only problem I have is that the 2 races are to close together. I think they should move one of them or just drop one. If they drop one race there then NASCAR should replace it with the new Nashville, or possibly just not replace it and have another off weekend, they need it

A good track where the stop watch can be your friend, same for Indy and Homestead...too bad the TV folks can't figure that out.

Some of the best racing in NASCAR is at Pocono, but you can't tell on TV.

You'd change your mind if you saw a race there, especially coming ou t of turn 2.

I'm sure I'd change my mind on a lot on tracks if I was there. I could actually watch other cars who arn't in the top 3.

I've been there in person. Didn't change my mind much. That's why I'm going to Dover this year.

Um...no. :P Actually, I really wish I could go. But my parents said no.:( I need to respect their decision to. Maybe when I move out, then I'll go. I have never been to a WCS race, or even a BGN or CTS race. They won't even let me go to the CTS race here at Mesa Marin!! Can you beleive that? I go right past it everyday when I travel to school too. :( Someday I'll make it to a race...

ok mustang....have to agree with your parents there....but thats ok......you will make it someday.....it's a great experence.......anyway, glad your a nice young man that listens to his parents, not to many young people do that these days, most just do whatever they want too....sounds like you have a lot of respect for your parents and that is a good thing...
:)
maybe we will catch you one of these years at the speedway unless of couse we move out to NC.....

I am so delighted to see a child respect his parents. It is so refreshing to see that. 66, I'm sure that when you get a little older that you will see the reasoning behind your parents decision, even if you don't right now. I bet with just a little coaxing you might be able to talk you dad into taking you to a race some time in the future. Tell him it is something that you would really like to do at least one time, and that it would really mean something to you if he would go with you. Tell him that you realize he is not a fan of Nascar, but once you go to see the race in person, you really cannot appreciate the complete atmosphere. The television does not do it complete justice. The sounds and smell of the cars travelling at great speeds around a racetrack are phenomenal (sp?)!

Like I said, all you can do is try to talk him into it. If it doesn't work, then you will just have to wait a few more years like you said when you "move out". Good luck!:)

66mustang, I'm really surprised your parents will not let you go to a local track like Mesa Marin. Maybe they just don't want you to go alone? Try getting a few of your friends to go with you, or try going with some friend you know that's going that has a parent there.

My mother was that way when I first wanted to go to Nazareth Speedway. Even though she doesn't really like racing, I convinced her to bring me and then the year after that she let me go with my friends.

So don't give up, maybe they will not buy into California right away, but maybe you can work them up to that eventually.

My dad went with me once to watch a late model race at Mesa Marin and wanted to leave about two hours into it. He was plugging his ears the whole time and didn't enjoy it very much. Too bad.:(

It seems like every race I go to Kyle either wrecks, dnfs or just plane suck that race. I had tickets to the 1995 Dover Spring race and was unable to go and it turned out he wins Pissed me off really bad
