The King to serve as judge for Christmas essay contest: The Victory Junction Gang Camp, which provides year-round camp sessions for children aged 7-15 with chronic and life-threatening illnesses, announced that co-founder Richard Petty will serve as a national essay contest judge this Christmas. The "Help Santa Find the Perfect Real Tree" contest is sponsored by the National Christmas Tree Association (NCTA) and asks children ages 6-16 to send a photo of their family or loved ones next to their fresh, farm-grown Christmas Tree and write a short essay on why the tree is special or "perfect" to them. Contest prizes include all-expense paid trips for four and $5,000-$10,000 scholarships.
Contest deadline is January 1, 2005. For complete contest entry information, please visit NCTA's website, realchristmastrees.org. As part of the cooperative effort, NCTA has arranged for one of its members, Hudler's Carolina Tree Farm, to have 300 fresh Christmas Trees delivered and available for the campers who will attend the Victory Junction Holiday Party. The National Christmas Tree Association strives to be one voice representing Christmas Tree Professionals and promoting the proper use of Real Christmas Trees.(Victory Junction Gang PR)
