For surprises, I would have to say:

Michael Waltrip in 1st
Ricky Rudd in 8th
Joe Nemechek in 12th
Steve Park in 16th
Jeff Gordon in 20th
Rusty Wallace in 22nd
Kyle Petty in 30th
Bill Elliott in 31st

Any others that anyone is surprised with?

Mildly surprised to see Jeff Gordon and Ward Burton back as far as they are. I really expected a better start from both of them. Also fairly surprised to see Kevin Harvick in the 7th spot. I expected a lot less from him.

We are only three races in, but Mikey :EEEEK: Bill, Jeff, and Rusty will get uyp there.

Well I am very dissapointed in the results from Ward, and I am surprised to see Ward's little bro. doing so well! That is good atleast!!

Jeff Burton is on a mild comeback-----glad to see that.Harvick this high and Rudd are both a little surprising too.

Not to surprise to see Harvick up in top 10. I have been saying all along he would be. But the season is still young. I belive he will finish is to 10. :D

I'm real happy for Harvick. But I'm real surprised with Jeff Burton. I sure hope this is going to be a good season or I see him leaving the roush organization.

Way too early to look at points. after about 7 races I will concern myself with which big names have had consistant bad luck and are they good enough to come back from it.
after all you can only have so many bad races a year. and 5 or 6 bad races are hard to overcome.

I'm with ya 66mustang... really glad to see Harvick up there, and I hope he stays there too!

Now were getting to some of his better tracks. I hope he shows 'em how its done. :D

Ahem...

MICHAEL WALTRIP IS CURRENTLY LEADING THE POINTS!!!!

He said he thought he could be a surprise this season. So far his car looks pretty good. I'm hoping he gets a top-10 this season, but I wouldn't mind if he was competing for the championship either!

Taking it one race at a time.

Also, 5 of my other top-7 drivers are in the top 10, and my top rookie pick this year, Jamie McMurray, is looking good. It's still veeeeeeeery early though.

I am very disappointed in Kyles runs the last 2 weeks. Kyle was pumped and said the team has a good shot at winnign this year. Daytona looked god!! The next 2 races were bad and Kyle is digging himself a hole and is 30th in points!!

On the other hand!!

Johnny is on the top 10!! YAHOO!! :bounce:

Congrats Mikey!!!

Obviously after three races, and at three very different tracks, luck and performance have not yet had a chance to even out.

Ryan Newman, up until yesterday, had not shown me quite what I expected from that team.

Jeff Burton, not so much a surprise as a "bout time" statement.

Biffle is a touch disappointing in his kick-off for the season.

Petty Enterprises seems to have taken a step back from where I thought they would be.

I'm surprised that:

Mikey is leading the points

Biffle has had a hard time getting it in gear

Jeff and Rusty have had a lot of problems

Front row Joe is running well

Todd Bodine is running well

Sadler has not done better

Ward continues to struggle

But, stay tuned folks, we have 33 more races to go, anything can happen.
